THE HORN (25 May 2006), St Albans, Hertfordshire
18 May 2006
ANARCHIC New Wavers S*M*A*S*H return to St Albans for the first time in a decade when they headline at The Horn next Thursday night.
The band achieved Single of the Week in NME and Melody Maker and both Joe Strummer and Billy Corgan were fans.
Formed in Welwyn Garden City, the trio comprises Ed Borrie on vocals/guitar, Rob Hague, drums, and Salvador Alessi, bass. They played their first gig in 1992 and by the following year the New Musical Express had decided they sounded like the Stone Roses on PCP.
Tireless tourers, their popularity has been enhanced by a cheap entry price policy.
Also appearing on the night will be Amina Sole, Carpathian Breed and Ready Steady Clothes - giving a mixture of hard-edged punk pop, enigmatic alt, thrills and ska stylings.
Admission to the music pub in Victoria Street, St Albans, is £5 on the door or £4 with a flyer.
