Like a trio of whippets they raced through a frenetic one hour and ten minute marathon and the Christmas excess and the years rolled away into the night. Good to see some of the usual suspects although the venue was a bit studenty. If I owned that place I'd have a special door for students; namely the exit.
THE ANGEL - Bedford (6 Jan 2006)
Doorman: 'Have you got your student union card?' Student 'Yes.' Doorman: 'Good, well F*ck off then.' As always with a smash gig there is a tale to tell with the journey home. Upon leaving Bedford (by car, I wasn't risking the train.) I noticed a mist descending. By the time I reached the A1 it was turning into a sea fog. I grimly grasped the steering wheel until the white lines disappeared from view and it was anyone's guess where the road was. I crawled home at 15mph.
Helen drove the Smash tour Ambulance at 40mph. No mean feat with those conditions. Happy New Year everybody. May 2006 be a S*M*A*S*H*I*NG year. El Vino or coz I was driving El L'eau as it was on Friday.
P.S. Salv; were they your work trousers you were wearing on stage? They were, weren't they?
