Sorry to inform you all that the Tinker Street show for tonight and the Valentines gig in Albany have been cancelled. Jo has taken ill and is recovering. I'll keep you all posted.

The band sends their apologies to those planning a trip to the shows.

Anyone who's planning on going to the Poughkeepsie show... good news! It's absolutely free! It's this annual arts festival at this park down by the Hudson River...

According to the sticker on the self-debut album from Stretch Princess, the upcoming singles being released are "Free" and "Twisted"

last night, I heard Stretch on the radio... sorta. I heard Sorry, nearly fell out of my chair, and then heard the Sam Goody's guy talking... so it was a Sam Goody's commercial... Still a step in the right direction I suppose :)

I just got one today and the "Jo Honeytrap" songs are pretty dang cool... as well as the rest of the tape. Whats neat about it is that "Sugar" is a bit different from the one on the CD and I believe longer, there are more and different words... and "Trying" is really nice too... Theres also a photo inside of Jo, just her, so by the photo I'm assuming Jo Honeytrap was just her without an official band just yet, eh?

I just got some info on the Poughkeepsie NY show [ 19 Sep 98 WRRV Festival ]... It's called Riverfest... starts at 11am ...ends at 5pm...

Stretch Princess are the openers, for a bunch of bands I've never heard of... they're supposed to hit the stage at 11am... and ummm the radio station has no clue how to get tix nor do they know how much they cost, neat huh? its well organized apparently ;) hehe

i was just wondering if anybody else was listening to WBCN 104.1 last thursday [ 27 Aug 98 ] around noontime when bill abbate had stretch princess on??? it was great! they did a little bit of interviewing and then attempted to do an acoustic version of "sorry" but the string broke on the guitar so they had to do it again. the second one came out beautiful, and as it turns out, they did it one more time off the air so they could get it perfect. "shoes" was also great.

After playing for 40 minutes, they did an autograph session that lasted at least an hour. They must of signed about 200 or more autographs! And they were gracious and wonderful the entire time. Even if it was 95 degrees. It was nice to see so many new fans being made. Can't wait to see them again and again

I just got back from seeing the Stretchies in Lexington. I drove five hours to see them from Atlanta. They played their first big festival and it was awesome. They played for about 40 minutes. I wish it was longer. The crowd was probably 5,000. All were into it. The crowd decided to mosh when Shoes got played. Utter hilarity. There were frisbees and bottles being thrown about the whole time. One frisbee almost clipped Jo as it flew over her head. All in all a very cool show!

Hi,

Your web page [ Chrissy's Stretch Princess ] is really cool. No wonder Jo wrote back to you. I also work at Wind-Up. I can tell you Stretch Princess is really nice. I've never thought I would meet such a nice group of musicians. They are really nice and friendly. Jo doesn't just sing and play the bass good, she also cuts her own hair. And she did a really good job too. It looks good. Well, once again, good job on your web page.

Later

Patricia

WOW!!!!!This is the coolest thing. We were so excited when we saw all this stuff!I've printed it all out so I can show my Mum when Iget back to England. We've just finished an 8 week promo tour of radio stations all over the country,we covered over 10,000miles Dave did most of the driving and James and I kept everyone entertained by playing songs out of the "500 songs to really annoy everyone in the van"book. Today is 'album day' Hooray!!We're going to Boston tomorrow for more radio, then we have that big show before we have a few weeks off. We'll be back sooner than soon though and hopefully will be straight out on tour,so come and see us!!Thank you for such a great site,I love the cartoon!

Loads of love from,

Stretch Princess.

I just got the lovely tape from my friend in California. It's so cool... acoustic versions of Sorry and Shoes.... along with a very low low sounding 9 to 5...(Jo singing part of a slighty changed version of Dolly Partons song for the radio station 92.5, instead of saying "working 9 to 5, she says "listening to 9 to 5") you have to crank the stereo to hear it, I dunno why, must have been recorded on another channel or something.... I'm not into the tech so that's just a guess ;) But none the less, it's still a pretty cool thing to umm sorta hear ;) hehe ... Jo's voice is amazing, she could probably sing the theme to Sesame Street or something and still make it sound cool :}

Last night Stretch played on a cruise boat in Boston. Our VP of Sales, Derek Graham reports:

The boat trip was a total smash. There were about 75 people from retail in the Boston area. They played 5 songs: Sorry, Shoes, Free, Lost On Me and Twisted. Afterwards, everyone rushed up to meet the band to get cd's and posters signed. The band had a wonderful time playing to the audience and joking around. Many hearts were won.

Stretch Princess are back in New York City for a couple of days before they head to Boston. They're really happy that a little Stretch community has begun and if there's time tomorrow we'll see if Jo or James will take a moment to say hi to everyone.

My friend in Cali just emailed me about acoustic performance Stretch Princess did for the radio station, 92.5

She was able to get a copy of the performance for me...acoustic versions of "Sorry", "Shoes" and they did a cover of 9 to 5....get it, the station is 92.5. My friend says Jo only sang for about 30 sec. or so of the 9 to 5 song because it sounded like she got embarresed..hehe :) That should be pretty neato to hear eh? When she sends it to me, I'll share... anyone who wants a copy, just let me know...

Hiya Chrissy,

Hey I just talked to Chaz and guess what???? Stretch Princess showed up at their studio last week and played some live stuff!!! DAMN IT ALL!!! I missed it! I'm going to see if there is anyway Chaz would give me a recording of that stuff.....sweet talk eh?..hehe If I can get a copy from her you want one? She said they did four songs, and she thought they were really extremely nice people. They are going to have a staff meeting tomorrow about playing the new single "Sorry", and said to call her back and she'll let me know what was said. So I'll let ya know what the boss guys had to say about Stretch Princess.

Searching the web out of boredom and looking for stuff to add to update my Stretch page with, I found some radio station charts with Stretch Princess's song "Sorry" in the rotation...

- 93X - St. Louis, Missouri - number 12 on the chart -KLZR Lawrence, KS - 105.9 The Lazer - listed as being in "cool" rotation (old listing though, they havent updated)
[ AUGUST 16 - AUGUST 23, 1998    LW:12 TW:12 STRETCH PRINCESS -SORRY    WIND-UP ]

Also came across another website with a mention of the Stretchies... The Fly . I have no idea really what the page is all about but this is what it said about them back in Oct of 97:

"Stretch Princess - A band that we just can't get enough of down here, this sparkling three piece have just had a receptive little jaunt to the States which will hopefully start things kicking for them over here a bit more. Watch this space as they say in Clichéville."

17 Aug 98 from the Black Squirrel and Rotator
Q. > I gather that no one knows why the stretchies changed their name from Jo Honeytrap.
A. It's because the line up of the band changed and they wanted a clean break as they were really a different band.
17 Aug 98 from anonymous
The Viper Room gig went really well in LA. Some key industry people were on hand and were very impressed with the quality of their live performance. We'll have more details later, and check the website for upcoming gigs. There are tentative plans for a "Sorry" video--nothing is confirmed yet. The band will be back in New York a week from today. 16 Aug 98 from Interzone

I'm beginning to think that "Sorry" is becoming K-Rock's new theme song or something! LOL...Twice in one day. Wowee! Anyway, the DJ who played it the last time was making fun of the band's name, saying that it sounds like a command for a dog or something - "Stretch, Princess. Princess, stretch!"
12 Aug 98 from Black Squirrel
The Stretchies used to be called Jo Honeytrap and released a few songs on the rotator promo, have a look at the Interzone releases page for more info www.rotator.co.uk/interzone/stretch/

I just heard "Sorry" on the radio...again! This is the third time I've heard it on the radio - Woohoo! his name's Justin Pierce and he said, "Every once in awhile I find myself singing along to that song. It's very catchy! Brand new from this band called Stretch Princess...I bet you'll be hearing more from them soon..."

It's 94.9 K-Rock, and is broadcasted out of Syracuse and Utica, NY. The phone numbers are 315-424-ROCK or 315-735-9490. :)
