George Perez was in his seemingly usual high spirits. Always friendly and always talkative, George will make anyone meeting him feel right at home. I could only guess that he is still taking it easy after drawing the monumental JLA/AVENGERS mini series, because he was still wearing the brace over his one hand for the tendonitis incurred by that cover to issue #3. OR, I have a theory that the brace is how George politely gets out of sketching for the masses (I’m kidding there people.)

I got a kick out of listening to him talk about how he was recently able to buy his wife a brand new car. “And I paid for it in cash,” he gushed. Take a break George you deserve it!

A final observation of Mr. Perez at the Pitt Con would be that, whenever he wasn’t at his own booth he could be found wandering the floor and visiting with many of the other creators and simply “talking shop”. I really respect the guy for taking time and talking to the younger creators. Someone of his stature really doesn’t need to do that sort of thing and no matter what convention I see him at, George is always smiling and talking to creators and fans.

Posted: Fri May 14, 2004 10:35 am Not that this is completely official or anything, but when I was talking to George Perez at the Pittsburgh Comicon two weeks ago, he was talking about his upcoming workload, and he said he was dedicating all of May to finishing "Sojourn/Lady Death." So it seems that as far as he knows, the project is still on. And he's drawing it for free, so it seems like money in the bank for Crossgen.

I wanted to let all those folks I just saw in Pittsburgh that I made it home and that it was wonderful seeing you, and to give those I didn't a heads up to look for me at the upcoming Detroit con and the Book Expo in Chicago later this month.

I was only there Friday for a few hours but I had a great time. George was great as always!! He's hand was still wrapped and he wasn't sketching but that doesn't stop him from being a fan favorite.
