Hi Folks, George Perez was kind enough to do a signing at the Forbidden Planet
shop where I work in Scotland.
First of all, our manager Kally is THE WORLD'S BIGGEST GEORGE PEREZ FAN :) She
eates, breathes, sleeps the man, he's her biggest inspiration and seeing her
finally meet her Idol was the biggest buzz i've felt in years !
My lovely girlfriend, Amber got him to draw Wondie's bracelets on his arm, she
is now in the process of getting them tattooed ! She's such a crazy Wondie fan

thanosthe great
George - I think you're great! I had the pleasure of meeting you & your
wife twice last year, and showing her the belly-dancing shop when you visited
Scotland & you did a signing in a certain Edinburgh comic shop :)
I worked there & helped out on the signing. What a great day! I was so stoked
when you did me my Thanos sketch, specially signed for me! Unfortunately, upon
leaving the aforementioned store to go begin my doctorate, when i asked for my
sketch back, I was told that they had "thrown it out!"
I'm gutted! And to be honest, the person who claims to have thrown it out, is
supposedly a big fan of your's-so it's a bit hard to believe! Here is the email

sorry, i don't have the Thanos. I threw it out.
Fa**y
I don't mean to come across as bitter, but how sad is it, that ex-employees of
comic book stores, will 'throw away' these precious works of george?
I just hope that he reads this and see's the person involved for what they
are... I should also mention that the ex-asistant manager got a zatanna sketch
done, as well as another employee who got a personalised flash sketch
done...both these employees were not given their sketches either upon leaving
employment with these monkeys....

PRE-EMPTIVE STRIKES:
I met George Perez today. If you don't know who that is then shame on
you! He is one of the most legendary comic book artists going. In
wrestling terms he would be the equivalent of a Ricky Steamboat or an
Arn Anderson. His work with writer Marv Wolfman on the New Teen
Titans breathed new life into DC Comics at the start of the `80s, a
time when Marvel was routinely kicking their ass. The pair then
teamed up for the biggest comic series of all time, Crisis on
Infinite Earths, which effectively wiped the slate clean for DC to
bring in the likes of Alan Moore, Frank Miller, Neil Gaiman and Grant
Morrison to take their titles to new and more exciting places than
ever before. As recently as last year Perez teamed up with writer
Kurt Busiek on the most eagerly anticipated crossover even in the
history of the industry, JLA/Avengers, which was a timely reminder to
all the pretenders to the throne just how hard and how fast the old
school masters can still kick it. What's more, he's not just a very
talented man; he is a very friendly man with an unbelievably loud
taste in shirts to boot! Thanks, George...

Edinburgh Sketch from Mark Cookson

Just got back to Manchester from today's signing in Edinburgh. George
was as affable as ever and was regaling all with tales of creating
characters, the joys of holidays and of course how scary it is being
in the business for 30 years and have younger creators telling him
how they grew up on his stuff.
50 years young, you bet, I'm assured by George that they is more to
come...much more.
I also managed to get George to christen my new sketchbook (my
third). Attached is a very simply but extremely effective Superman
for the gallery.
(Vu: You need to be a member of Yahoo Groups: George Perez in order to view the Superman sketch. Special thanks to Mandy.)

Comments:
Today, June 17, was a milestone for me. George, while on holiday in the UK,
came to Edinburgh (Forbidden Planet) and I met him, had a little chat and he
signed my collected "Crisis" book. The 1st Comic Book Artist I have ever met ...
and what a lovely man. You are a gentleman, sir ... and a very talented one to
boot! You are DEFINITELY one of the modern greats! Thank you so much for giving
me so much pleasure all these years! :D
