TEEN TITANS: DIVIDE & CONQUER DVD (Sep 2004)
I must say, I'm pretty happy with this DVD overall. The standard retail price is $19.99, but you should be able to find it on sale for about $14.99. For six episodes and some decent extras, that's fair. Hopefully, it will follow with a volume two containing the remainder of season one.Packaging and Menu: The Packaging is the much-reviled snapper case. Supposedly, Warner Bros. is phasing out this package in the next year in favor of the hard plastic cases. The design in in keeping with the show's style guide. I would have preferred something more stylish, but it is marketed as a "kid's DVD/video."
Comic Creations: By far, the best thing about this DVD. I was expecting a 5 minute breezy fluff piece. But this extra clocks in at about 21 minutes - the length of an episode. It features commentary by Sam Register, Glen Murakami, David Slack and comic creators Marv Wolfman and George Perez. They talk about the comic book, the characters, and the look of the show. I've talked to each of these creators about the show, and this special still included some stuff I didn't know. It's very nicely done! It makes up for the fact that the DVD does not contain commentaries.
Puffy Ami Yumi Video: Great fun, Good extra. It's the extended music video of the theme song, inserting Puffy Ami Yumi into the Teen Titans world. Fun.
Find The Remote: An interactive game where you scroll through various items to find the remote -- which doesn't really reveal much. The game is strictly for kids.
Previews: Usual kind of stuff. Previews for "Teen Titans and Static Shock", "Codename Kids Next Store", "DC October releases for Batman, Superman and Justice League" and a brief preview of the upcoming "Puffy Ami Yumi" animated series.
