"Growing up and reading Teen Titans and Justice League, I remember looking at George Pérez's artwork and thinking how his art lends itself very well to animation-- especially with Romeo Tanghal's inks, which didn't use excessive shadows." Wade Peña, President and CEO of Maverick City tells me.

In 2000, Maverick City started working with George Pérez on Omega Force. George would draw characters based on stories and designs by Maverick City. A team of animation talents (deriving from Universal Studios, Electronic Arts, and Disney Animation) would then use a 3-D software to render George's artwork.

"George has done all the artwork for Omega Force in 2000 [before he signed an exclusive contract to CrossGen Comics]. We're currently grafting the artwork into 3-D models. Once they are perfect and true to his artwork style we'll put it out as a 20-minute pitch pilot of action sequence into a trailer." Wade said.

Maverick City wants to pitch the idea to Hollywood, in October. They eventually want to turn it into a 90-minute feature pilot episode and eventually a television series (as it was designed to be from the start).

The three heroes in Omega Force consists of:

Huntsman, an African-American warrior, who is "a cross between a Klingon and Batman." He's pretty much a loner from the description and doesn't really get along very well with his teammates.

Magiaa, best described as Mediterranean and a "young and innocent Scarlet Witch." Her people are Guardians of the Earth.

Pulsar, is the most dynamic of the three characters. He's an Asian rich and spoiled kid, who has the same ability as that of Green Lantern, "except his power extends to the subatomic level."

The next project/release that Maverick City is working on is "Scot Free", which is very different from Omega Force as it's more of a Charlie Chaplin comedy, rather than a superhero series. The short feature will be out on the website in the next two months, in the meantime, check out the animated trailer to Knightman (which looks like a spoof of Batman).
