I had a great time at the NY International Sci-Fi & Fantasy Creators Convention (27-29 Jun 03). I was there all three days and had the pleasure of getting multiple sketches from the master. George was
there all three days too. George wowed all his fans (young and old) with his art and stories (George has some great ones) all weekend long. In fact, on Saturday, his fans were so many that George's Booth had to be moved to a different location on the floor to accommodate all the fans..
George was doing Head Shots for $60.00 with proceeds to benefit The Florida Juvenile Diabetes Foundation (George is such a great guy) He was also the Auctioneer on Saturday Night (5-7 P.M.) at the Spectacular Charity Auction with the proceeds going to the Eblen Foundation For Children's Pharmacy, an organization that provides free medication to sick and needy children.
Tom Smith joined George at his booth Saturday and Sunday (Good Pair). The convention was also giving away Two Different Crimson Plague Posters (I believe George provide these) when you entered the con. The con was a buzz with a lot of people talking about JLA/AVENGERS and how they were so excited to see it. I had some great experiences outside the con because
of George's artwork. On the streets on NYC I was stopped by a man walking when he saw my FIREHAWK sketch who thought it was the coolest thing ever. (I Agreed).
On my way back home on the NJ turnpike one of the Toll Both operators saw the Barry Allen Sketch in the passenger seat and thought it was amazing. He thought I did it, but I said it was done by Gentleman George Perez.
George's beautiful art isn't limited to being appreciated in the comic world society. Thanks George!!
