Kurt's summary comes after much silly knee-bent running about on my part, and I believe he took pity and was trying to set my fragile mind to rest. And the nice thing is, it did - if the writer of JLA/Avengers says it's so, then it's so! Let's look at 'em one at a time:
Lionheart: I mentioned in CBG #1535 that I wasn't sure if he was a Reserve or not. Well, Kurt says he isn't, so he isn't. Alan Scott and Jay Garrick: While Alan "Green Lantern" Scott had a guest stint in Justice League Europe #48-50 (be he was Sentinel), it was as a JSA member and didn't confer JLA status. But Jay "Flash" Garrick provided lengthy solo service in Justice League America (beginning with #78, May 93), and it did. "I called Dan Vado, who wrote those issues," Busiek said. "Dan says his intent was that Jay was a member, so that was the clincher." Sarge Steel and his Charton buddies, as mentioned in CBG #1535 aren't members according to anybody. "All the members in JLA #27…": This amount to Black Lightning, The Creeper, and Jade, the three characters in that issue brought in as Reserves who had never been demonstrated to be members before. "They got activated by Oracle," Busiek said. "And that makes 'em official." Glenn Gammeron: I'm flabbergasted by this one, a galactic bounty hunter who hung around for a while in search of Despero, beginning in Justice League Task Force #28 (Oct 95). "It bothers me, too," said Kurt, reacting to my slack-jawed amazement. "But he's more than a guest star and has no reason to be around for as long as he was without being a member." So let's review what we covered today: Hourman I, Bronze Tiger, Dolphin, Sarge Steel, Judomaster, Nightshade, Thunderbolt, Impulse, Sea Devils, Lionheart, Alan Scott, The Doom Patrol, Starman and "Jan & Zayna" are NOT members, whereas L-Ron/Despero, Tasmanian Devil, Huntress, Nightwing, Agent Liberty, Black Condor, the Ray, Catherine Cobert, Snapper Carr, Kilowog, Oberon, Dale Gunn, the Yazz, Jay Garrick, Black Lightning, Creeper, Jade, Captain Marvel, Dr Light II, Glen Gammeron, and Zan & Jayna ARE. I hope you're all paying attention, because there will be a test, and that test will be be JLA/Avengers.
And what about that nigh-legendary book?
Says Busiek, "It's going fine, it looks great, and it'll be out this fall."
