A Collaboration between Marvel and DC Comics Justice League/Avengers
JUSTICE LEAGUE AMERICA AND AVENGERS, 1981
When comic publishing Titans, Marvel and DC Comics announced the first ever teaming of their
most popular super groups, Justice League America and Avengers, it took the industry by
storm and became the most eagerly anticipated event in comics history. The most popular
artist in the industry, George Perez, famous for his extreme attention to detail and his ability
to handle large casts of characters during his tenure on both Justice League and Avengers was
given the prestigious assignment of illustrating this historic event. George produced twenty-one
gorgeous pages featuring each teams entire cast of characters, spotlighting Superman,
Batman, Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Wonder Woman, Green Arrow, Green Lantern,
She-Hulk, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Beast, Hercules, Zatanna, Red Tornado, Aquaman, Ant-Man,
Wasp, Black Canary and Elongated Man as they gathered to battle two terrible time travellers,
Kang the Conqueror and the Time Master. However, before he could finish the assignment, the
cross-over was cancelled due to editorial disagreements between the two companies. The
comics industry waited patiently for twenty years for the two companies to resolve their
differences and to produce the long-awaited event. In Spring of 2001, it was announced that
the long delayed team-up would finally happen and is set for publication in the summer of
2002. The twenty-one unpublished pages of Justice League/Avengers remains the Holy Grail of
the comics industry, they represent the work of an artist at the peak of his popularity producing
some of the finest work of his career, featuring the most popular and recognizable characters
of comics lore, meeting for the first time ever. This remarkable collection is offered here for the
first time.
Twenty-one pages, ink on illustration board. Each page is 11" x 17", mounted to frames and
