Not only was AVENGERS 34 the end of the "Nefaria Protocols" crossover with THUNDERBOLTS, it was also the very last issue penciled by lengendary penciler George Pérez. So many of you were touched by George's work that we've decided to devote this month's Avengers Assemble to your reactions to his departure.
I just wanted to give more kudos to George Pérez. I was reading AVENGERS during his first tour of duty back in the seventies (he also did some great FF's during that time), so it's hard for me to say goodbye again. Ah, well. Nothing lasts forever. Thank you, George, for teaming with Kurt to return AVENGERS to what it should be - the flagship of Marvel comics. We will miss you ! may all your future endeavors be successful.

AVENGERS #34. what can I say but fantastic? Kurt busiek once again proves his worth on earth's Mightiest, and George Pérez certainly went out on top on this book.

I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say I'm sorry to see George leaving the title. I thank you for your time and for a terrific story, and I cannot wait to see where Avengers will go in the months and years to come.

I can't believe that George is leaving AVENGERS. His art work is some of the best there is in comics. I doubt that any other artist could fill his shoes, but at least Kurt is still there to pump out the amazing stories we see every month. Even with the loss of George, I bet that AVENGERS will still be the best comic in the Marvel Universe.

I would like to say I thoroughly enjoyed each and every issue George did since its relaunch. I just hope he'll be back someday once an Avengers, always an Avenger!!!

Mr. Pérez was the only AVENGERS artist I have ever knwn and I wish him luck in whatever he is planning to do next. Mr. Davis, you have pretty big shoes to fill.
Thank you for giving me something to eagerly await each and every month.

I wanted to wait until the final chapter of "the Nefaria Protocols" so that I could have a better opinion on the story as a whole. This issue was certainly a good send-off for George Pérez! The non-stop action and pacing in this story definitely put Pérez excellent layouts to good use. It really seemed like an action movie!

The grand finale to the crossover with the Thunderbolts was very nice. George Pérez left the book with a bang. And so did Count Nefaria, literally. Though this is the Marvel Universe and he will come back. One day. Maybe. I think.

This book had the 'old school' feel of comics and took me back to George Pérez's original run on AVENGERS. He is the best at what he does and he will surely be missed. Instead of all these new artists trying to draw Manga style, they need to be trying to emulate George's classic but beautiful art style. This is storytelling at its best.

I would just like to send my sincerest thanks to George Pérez for every time he ever picked up a pencil. He will be sorely missed and I will always look back to the issues he has drawn as the benchmark for what AVENGERS is to be. Thank you.

Needless to say I'm extremely sad to see the departure of Mr. Pérez. Some of the first comics I ever read included his original run on this series. He will be greatly missed.

I simply wanted to convey my gratitude to you, George. You brough hope to this old fanboy that there are still people who care about quality in the comic book industry making it all the more sad that you are leaving.

Spectacular! That is the only way to describe what AVENGERS has been for the last couple of months. Especially issue #34 (wait as I wipe a tear from my eye) which was George Pérez's last issue with us. The artwork was magnificent, and the writing intense throughout the entire epic battle that should go down in the Marvel history.

In the end , #34 was George's book and he didn't let anyone down. He threw all those wonderful Pérez-isms into the art., all his trademark visual effects. I'll be following him to his next project, but I hope George can find time to do a guest spot on this title occasionally before he returns to it full time (come on, this is his spiritual home. Of course he'll be back again.)

Well AVENGERS #34 just plain rocked! I can't think of enough compliments to describe it, but it was definitely a fitting end to George Pérez's run on the title. Now I can't wait to see what the new artists will do with the team!

I couldn't agree with you more, Paul. It's plain to see that George will definitely be missed here in AVENGERS, by the fans and the creative team! But even though he's no longer in these pages regularly, you never know when George might stop back into the Mansion, as former Avengers always seem to do....
And while we're discussing departures from these pages, we want to thank awesome Al Vey for his indescribable inks and fantastic finishes on AVENGERS vol. 3. this issue marks the end of Al's run as well... but don't worry! We'll definitely be seeing Mr. Vey's top-notched work in many magnificent Marvel titles in the future....
