Artist Ethan Van Sciver Teams With The Best

Justice Leagues, the next DC fifth week event is going to be featuring the work of many talented comic pros. Tom Peyer wrote the bookend Justice Leagues # 1 and Justice Leagues: Justice League of America # 1. Joining Peyer on the initial JL title is artist, Ethan Van Sciver. Van Sciver, best known for his work on teen speedster, Impulse, is happy to be drawing the first part of this saga. He enjoyed putting some finer touches on established characters. "There's a cool old time Green Lantern villain that plays a major role in the story that I particularly enjoyed adding my own touches to," Van Sciver says enthusiastically.

Justice Leagues is a story of how one man, the Advance Man, succeeds where others has failed and actually is able to break the unity of the fabled Justice League of America. "Justice Leagues is about what would happen to the JLA if a villain came about that was able to make the world and the heroes themselves forget that there even is a Justice League of America," Van Sciver reveals. "But something goes awry with his plan, and, instead of forgetting the name and concept entirely, each individual member of the team becomes obsessed by 'Justice League of A,' and they go off and form teams with a new A-word that applies to them and their new teammates. Like Justice Leagues: Justice League of Amazons, Justice Leagues: Justice League of Atlantis, Justice Leagues: Justice League of Arkham, Justice Leagues: Justice League of Aliens, and, finally, Justice League: Justice League of America. I drew the first bookend, Justice Leagues, which means I got to draw all of the JLA folks. Justice Leagues will be out this January."

Fans of the Justice League -- any incarnation -- should enjoy this tale. "There's lots of reasons to check this out," Van Sciver explains. "You should read it because George Perez did the covers. Or read it because it will be there, on the stands, looking glorious, shining like a new penny, beckoning the tasteful comic book consumer to come forth."

After this special, Van Sciver's busy working on another special featuring one of the Justice League members, Flash. "I'm busily working on Flash: Iron Heights, a 48 page prestige special with the super-talented and super cool JSA writer Geoff Johns," Van Sciver reveals. "More about this soon, since we're keeping the details of this book under wraps until DC makes us talk about it! 'Til then, shhh! It's a secret!"
