TWO NEW GORILLA CONCEPTS TO DEBUT IN 'SECTION
ZERO'
With the end of the first wave of Gorilla Comics came an end to the
sneak peak short stories in the back of each title giving readers a taste
of the titles to come. Look for the stories to reappear in the pages of
"Section Zero" later this year.
"The last two issues of the first 'Section Zero' arc will showcase new
characters in short backup stories," Gorilla founder Kurt Busiek, writer of
"Shockrockets," told the Comic Wire on Sunday. "One by Mark [Waid] --
that's 'John Doe,' in SZ #5 -- and one by me and George [Perez], in SZ
#6."
For now, Busiek isn't telling too much about his new Gorilla concept --
not even its name.
"All I've said about the character George and I are doing is that it's a
fantasy/mystic project -- and, as usual with me, it's something I've
been tinkering with for years, dating back to 1987 or so.
"I'm leaving the decisions on formally announcing and promoting this
stuff to Karl [Kesel], since ['Section Zero' is] his book -- but I'm hoping
we'll have some art to show before we talk too much about it."
Waid's "John Doe" will be a noir-flavored crime story set in New York
City, revolving around discovering the identities of dead "John Does"
buried by the city.
