Avengers/Thunderbolts Crossover | April 25, 2000

THE AVENGERS/THUNDERBOLTS CROSSOVER EXPLODES! There are certain things you can count on in July and August: baseball, mosquitoes, over cooked action movies... and the AVENGERS/THUNDERBOLTS crossover! This year is no exception, as the storm that's been building all spring explodes into a full-blown summer monsoon! In June, the seeds are planted in AVENGERS #31 with the arrival of Madame Masque, who plays a key role in this year's story, to the Mansion. Temperatures rise in July when Wonder Man, fresh off his AVENGERS TWO limited series, goes after his fellow ionic-powered superhuman Atlas in the pages of THUNDERBOLTS #42. Things get even more interesting when the deadly and delectable Black Widow pays a call on the squad in AVENGERS #32. Events escalate in August when Natasha then swings into the pages of THUNDERBOLTS #43 to team up with her ex-partner Hawkeye and his band of would-be heroes. But why does the team rocket off to Baron Zemo¹s South American base? Answers are found in AVENGERS #33 when a fully-powered old nemesis returns! Only a slim stroke of luck allowed the team to escape his wrath before, but now all bets are off! It seems the key to taking him down is locked in the mind of one Madame Masque (who pops up in AVENGERS #32), but will Iron Man be able to convince her to turn against one of her own? All of these mysteries
might be enough to make your head spin, but that's par for the course when the T-Bolts are on the scene! For those of you keeping score, you'll want to be on the lookout for AVENGERS #31-#33 and THUNDERBOLTS #42 - #44. If you're a fan of straight-ahead super hero action and suspense, I can't recommend these two titles highly enough. If your curiosity has been peaked by the rave reviews you've been reading about both books (thanks to the outstanding work of Kurt Busiek, George Pérez, Mark Bagley, and Fabian Nicieza), then pull on your bathing suit, grab a towel, and take the plunge this Summer!
