I will be driving to Chicago tomorrow. I will be stopping in Milwaukee to say hi to an old friend, so if you live nearby/on the way, give me a call xxx xxx xxxx. Not sure how reliable my internet access will be, but you can always email me () or leave public comments.

Other than that, I have been busy with my cover lover blog and, of course, weheartmusic.

Here's the second episode of Cooking with Dolly & Vu:

"KEIRA KNIGHTLEY" and VU (02 Feb 2007)
My vacation money from my ex-work has run out so I'm forced to look for a new job, starting Monday. I'm including a Paypal donation button, until I find something a little more permanent. You can also buy things through using my Amazon link as I also get a little referal money.

Anyway, I will be in Southern California on March 23rd to the 27th. The flight is free, and I was told that all the activities is already planned out. But if anyone out there wants to meet up, at art museums and that sort of activities, please get in contact with me: (612) 432-9576. Please leave a message with your contact information because I rarely answer my cell phone if I don't know your number. It's probably best if you just text me anyway.

Music-wise, I have been listening Le Volume Courbe

I'm always interested in new websites, and I have just discovered Vox. I'm sure there are other websites that offers media-sharing, but this is the first one that looks good. You can upload music or video files and everything can be tagged.

The searching feature is bad because most users don't use the tag features at all.

I'm including the media for my latest entry for Camera Obscura.

If you want to read about the model that I used for my banner, you can go here.

UPDATE: I'm featured on their home page for my banner design - haha!

Vector Art and Cooking Show

em I have been working on vector art lately. If you think that looks familiar, it's sort of like the same thing like from A Scanner Darkly or Waking Life. I'm using Photoshop, so it's actually not true vectors, but it's still kind of cool and fun to learn.

My other time being spent on is editing the much delayed cooking show with Dolly and I. You can watch: Part One and Part Two.

I leave you with one of my favorite band, Salad. Download: Salad - Drink the Elixir

Hi. I think I'm going to take some time off my website(s) for a few weeks. It's something personal and before you worry - you should know I am having such a good time bicycling in the snow and playing a lot of video games.

I'm also toying around with my roommate's website, I've uploaded this song by Tiger Trap on his website, you can download it if you want:

(I'm not sure if it will load up the Flash player, if Adobe asks you - just give permission to play the music file.)

The webhost has some awesome features like MySQL which I want to kind of learn and put up a demo website or something.

Website Update: Fixes for IE7
Miscellaneous Fri, 22 Dec 2006 21:14:54 CST Vu
From Vu
Just to let you know that I've made some fixes for IE7 (so it may fix earlier versions of IE) in some displays of images and also 'hover' should work on images for both IE and Firefox. The hover will only activate if there is a link, otherwise they just appear as normal.

Also, I forgot to mention that Andy Mangels worked on the special features of the Dungeons and Dragons Complete DVD that I reviewed earlier.

I am still in search of good HD-content, so please recommend something to me. I may try and get Smallville Season 5 HDD as I'm curious to see how television HD would look like in a boxset.

I also picked up a new keyboard called the IP-Talky because I killed my last keyboard. I half-thought about getting one of those indestructible keyboards, but they all feel bad and I need hard plastic to type fast.

D&D
Miscellaneous Sun, 17 Dec 2006 20:45:15 CST Vu
From Vu
I finally finished watching the D&D series on DVD.

PROS
- Awesome packaging (booklets, artwork, etc).
- Complete series
- Best Buy edition came with a minature.
- Price is not too expensive (under $30).

CONS
- Video quality is bad on an HD TV. Video looks fine on a standard TV.
- Some of the source material for the extras are very poor (but still nice to have it on DVD).
- Repetitive beginning intro.
- Wish this was available in HD-DVD!

Basically, what it really comes down to is the limitations of the DVD format. Even though I'm ready to move on to a better format, no one else is ready!

If you're on the fence about what format to go with (Bluray or HD-DVD), there is a website that compiles stats from Amazon.com: www.thedvdwars.com. Currently HD-DVD is winning in all catagories, except for pricing and quantity.

HD DVD PLAYER
So I recently bought myself an HD Player (see video review). Basically now, I really don't want to buy current DVDs.

The most unfortunately thing: there are no cool packages or movies in HD! If I was in charge of HD marketing, I would be doing cool packages for the latest movies. Especially because you know Superman Returns on HD would look amazing on an HD TV!

Domain Transfer
Miscellaneous Thu, 23 Nov 2006 10:31:26 CST Vu
From Vu
Just wanted to let you know that my domain name (www.george-perez.com) will expire in January 2007, I have transfer the domain name to www.godaddy.com because they are offering the best price on the web ($6.95/yr vs $19.95/yr). I have bought four years, so hopefully godaddy doesn't go out of business by then...

I am still annoyed that 'public' domain registration (basically anyone can see where I live) but private registration costs an additional $4.99 a year.

Anyway, there will probably be an outage for a few days, so if you are experiencing any problems, please let me know.

"Top Stories" Sidebar
Miscellaneous Sat, 18 Nov 2006 22:22:27 CST Vu
From Vu
I am including a "Top Stories" sidebar on the front page, and in each news item. If you're a regular visitor to this website, you will notice that we cover a lot of stories and things tend to fall off the front page quickly.

I was recently sent a press release for Win Your Very Own George Perez because the source did not know that we've already cover this on the 9th of November (but had dropped off the front page by the 11th).

This will be great for the casual or hardcore visitors, as you can quickly glance to see the major or important Perez stories at any given time. For instance, if you were searching the web and came upon Pacesetter Damaged at Diamond - you will see right away the top current stories on the right side.

"NEW" Icon will appear if the stories are within seven days of posting. As usual, please let me know if this is not working for you/problems with the scripts, etc.

"New" Icon for Art, Plus Other Stuff
Miscellaneous Sat, 18 Nov 2006 13:54:20 CST Vu
From Vu
I've finally gotten around to adding the Art post (which has a pink header). You can tell what section you're looking at by the header color:
PINK: Art
BLUE: Checklist
GREEN: News
ORANGE: Miscellaneous

I know some of you have been asking for a "NEW" icon to identify what is new and what is not in the Art Section. So I'm pleased to finally implement this.

"NEW" icon will be displayed until the expiration date (set for one month). I'm using a rather crude javascript "if then" statement, if you know of a better solution, please let me know. I would rather use CSS if possible.

The NEW icon (which looks like this: ) will appear if you have javascript enabled. I've also included a "*" text so you can do a search for "*" to find the latest art.

Let me know if you're having problems with the scripts. I mostly make sure these things work on Firefox, so if you're using an alternate browser, please send me some input. I've noticed that certain things doesn't show up correctly on IE7, but I'm fixing them as I see it.

The Thanksgiving holidays are almost here, so we've been kind of slacking at work and I'll probably be over-spending for myself on my 32nd birthday this Wednesday (I will probably end up getting Xbox 360 HD DVD Player as I love movies so much. See my award-winning dvd collection.)

Wonder Woman Day Raises HUGE Amount For Charities
Portland, Oregon, November 5, 2006

America's most famous super-heroine was the star at the first-ever "Wonder Woman Day" event at Excalibur Comics in Portland on October 29th. The free all-ages event, organized by best-selling author Andy Mangels, included a trio of comic book artists signing Wonder Woman comics, as well as a silent art auction with over 100 of the world's top artists contributing original art, plus raffles, costumes, rare memorabilia, and more. In the aftermath of the event, the total amount raised was determined, with 100% of all monies going to two of Portland's most protective women and children's shelters — Raphael House and Bradley-Angel House. The total raised was $15,405.33!

Jessica Elkin, Director of Development of Raphael House of Portland notes that the charity, "Andy Mangels and his event 'Wonder Woman Day' at Excalibur Comics made a critical difference in the lives of thousands of women and children in this community fleeing domestic violence. Every year Raphael House of Portland serves 350 women and children, because of the support of 'Wonder Woman Day,' the dedication of Mr. Mangels and the generous contributions of participating artists throughout the world we are able to serve 70 people in our emergency domestic violence shelter!"

Things should load a little bit faster, if you are experiencing problems, please contact me.

What I have been up to:
GAMES: Half Life 2, Guild Wars, Heroes of Might and Magic 5, and Dungeon Siege 2: Broken World. I've taken some screen prints (although it looks much better in the actual game). I usually boost up the anti-aliasing to 4x or 8x (if available) for some very smooth graphics.
DVDS: Been watching Battlestar Galactica on DVD
TV SHOWS: Watching Lost Season 3, Prison Break Season 2, and Heroes.
FUTURE: Looking forward to seeing the PS3 and Nintendo Wii, although I probably won't get either of those since I'm happy with my Xbox 360 at the moment. They've recently updated their system to output in 1080p (previously only available with 1080i). Now... All I need is a nice high definition TV :/
