Some time later, she was kidnapped by Yon-Rogg, an enemy of Mar-Vell's, and was exposed to the radiation of his weapon, the "Psycho-Magnitron". That changed her whole genetic structure and gave her powers similiar to those Mar-Vell himself had. In Ms. Marvel #1 (January, 1977), she debuted as Ms. Marvel (I) and joined the Avengers in The Avengers (vol. 1) #183 (May, 1979). Shortly after leaving the Avengers (who had allowed Immortus' son Marcus to abduct her although he had previously impregnated her against her will), she lost her powers to Rogue and became an associate of the X-Men. Some time later, she was abducted by the Brood and used for experiments that gave her the cosmic powers of a "white hole". Beginning with The Uncanny X-Men #164 (December, 1982) she called herself Binary and - after Rogue had joined the X-Men - joined the Starjammers and journeyed with them through deep space. During the course of the crossover Operation: Galactic Storm (March - June, 1992), she saved the Earth's sun from a Nega-Bomb but was critically injured. After recovering from her injuries, she decided to remain on Earth and rejoined the Avengers in The Avengers (vol. 3) #4 (May, 1998), now calling herself Warbird. Yet since she didn't tell her fellow Avengers that she had lost her Binary powers and even suffered from Alcoholism, she was finally asked to leave the team. Since overcoming her addiction (with the help of her fellow Avenger Iron Man, who is a sober Alcoholic himself) she returned to the team. During the course of the "Kang Dynasty" storyline, she saw no other way but to kill the so-called "Master of the World", but was subsequently found innocent by an Avengers trial due to the war-time circumstances. POWERS & WEAPONS: As Warbird, Carol can fly, posesses super-strength and invulnerability.
