On Earth, he became known as a superhero named the "Manhunter from Mars" and assumed various human identities such as John Jones, Johann Johnson and Marco Xavier. In The Brave and the Bold #28 (March, 1960), the first issue featuring the Justice League of America, J'Onn was a member of the team and was shown as a founding member in all subsequent retellings of the team's origin, in the original version from Justice League of America #9 (February, 1962) as well as in the current version from Secret Origins (vol. 3) #32 (November, 1988). Since then, he's a member of the League and the only character who has constantly served in every incarnation of the team, with almost no breaks. In Justice League Task Force #1 (June, 1993), he was also a founding member of the Justice League Task Force, and beginning with Justice League America #62 (May, 1992), he used the identity of the new member Bloodywnd (neither the readers nor his fellow Leaguers knew about it back then) until his secret was revealed and he could be seperated from the original Bloodwynd (who subsequently joined the League as well). J'Onn was also a founding member of the current version of the JLA and served with almost no breaks, only recently he left the team in order to find a way to finally conquer his vulnerability to fire. POWERS & WEAPONS: J'Onn is, like all Martians, a shape-shifter and telepath, posesses super-strength, the ability to fly and some sort of heat-vision. There remain a number of other Martian senses that have not been fully explored, such as his Martian Vision. J'Onn is a superior tactician and leader as well as an excellent hand-to-hand combatant. His only weakness is fire, which will sap his strength and eventually kill him (but as seen in JLA #82 (Aug 03), J'Onn is working on conquering his weakness against fire).
