Off the show floor, there was again a very comics-focued collection of panels, as designed and organized by former Legion editor KC Carlson and Johanna Draper-Carlson --

JG: Yeah, I'm interrupting but KC and Johanna are really cool! KC is one of the silent helpers behind Even More Fund, and last year's More Fund, and Johanna -- well, if you haven't heard about her comics review website (comicsworthreading.com), where have you been?

    BALTIMORE COMIC-CON 2002 PROGRAM BOOK (2002)

I flipped through Even More Fund Comics today, and there is a contribution from George within its pages. It's a reprint of his cover to the Baltimore Comic-Con 2002 Program Book, this time printed in black and white.

EVEN MORE FUND COMICS: One-hundred and ninety-two pages, over seventy creators, and only ten bucks ... which goes to the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund. What man could conjure such a spell? Who is the man behind the curtain? It's none other than BUZZBOY creator and Sky-Dog Publishing's head honcho John Gallagher, who emerged from his post-traumatic stress to answer a few questions about this year's latest anthology.

THE PULSE: You seem to have, perhaps accidentally, fashioned an empire of sorts, John. MORE FUND COMICS and now EVEN MORE FUND COMICS. What was your initial thinking and purpose in beginning even the first project?

JOHN GALLAGHER: The idea for the book started when I was having dinner with Baltimore Comic-Con organizer Marc Nathan, artist Frank Cho, and a few friends from Diamond Comics Distributors. I had had some success in creating "custom comics" for corporations, and was pitching Marc on the idea of doing one for the Con, as a freebie. I just wanted to promote the local comics creators, like myself, Mark Wheatley, Cho ... Marc and Frank said I was thinking too small, make it an all-star sort of thing, and for the Fund... Things took off from there, with Frank corralling talent, Marc promoting it through the show (and snagging George Perez to do the cover), and me, I got to do the design, editing, and, sigh, publishing.

CANADIAN NATIONAL EXPO (27-29 Aug 2004) TITANS: GAMES GN (Fall 2005)
ASTRO CITY: A VISITOR'S GUIDE (Oct 2004) EVEN MORE FUND COMICS (Errata) (Oct 2004)
SOJOURN / LADY DEATH #1 (Errata) (Jul 2004) SOJOURN / LADY DEATH #2 (Errata) (Aug 2004)

Just some tidbits from George at the recent Canadian Comic Expo:

    - Mike Perkins will be inking him on Titans: Games, since George was so impressed with the results of their previous collaborations. The pages already inked by Al Vey will see print as they are.

    - George said that when the convention was over, he would draw his contribution for Astro City: A Visitor's Guide. (The book is scheduled for release on October 13th.)

    - He drew 2 covers and 5 interior pages for the cancelled Sojourn/Lady Death.

One thing I forgot to ask him was whether his work would appear in Even More Fund Comics. He was originally announced as a contributor, and the book was apparently made available at the Baltimore Comic-Con this past September 11-12, so I'm curious to look at it when it hits comic store shelves.
