As both Marvel and DC eliminate their company historians (Marvel eliminated Peter Sanderson years ago, and DC just axed Bob Greenberger), thank jebus that Twomorrows exists to shine a light on the past. Their latest must-have tome is the Legion Companion (Twomorrows, $24.95 SRP), which goes in-depth into the 40-year history of the Legion of Super-Heroes.
And while we're on the topic of Twomorrows, be sure to pick up their DVD spotlight/interview on George Perez as part of their Modern Masters series (Twomorrows, Not Rated, DVD-$35.00 SRP). Not only does it feature interviews with George and his friends and colleagues, but also sports footage of Perez at work. Maybe Twomorrows can do the same thing with John Byrne if I beg enough…
Beginning with The Jack Kirby Collector, TwoMorrows Publishing has developed and launched an impressive series of collector-inspired books and periodicals ranging from the definitive book on Captain Action to Murphy Anderson's biography. John Morrow, one of the two Morrows in TwoMorrows, let the inspiration he drew from the works of the writer-artist Jack Kirby lead to new ways to display the passion for collecting.

Scoop: What have been some of your biggest successes?
JM: George Khoury's two books, Kimota! The Miracleman Companion and The Extraordinary Works of Alan Moore were both top sellers for us. Our "Companion" series continues to do well, as does our Modern Masters volumes, which spotlight the best artists working in the field today.
Scoop: Have any of them surprised you? If so, which ones?
JM: I think the biggest surprise for me was our reissue of the 1971 Kirby Unleashed portfolio. We completely remastered it, rescanning almost every piece from the originals, and tracking down some unseen work to add to it. I expected a fair percentage of our usual loyal Kirby Collector readers to embrace it, but sales definitely exceeded what I expected. Also, our two DVDs to date (How To Draw Comics, From Script To Print and Modern Masters: In The Studio With George Pérez) have done well, so we'll definitely be doing more DVDs in the future.

The DVD starts with the interviewer at the front of George's home. George is filmed in his studio as he discusses pieces of art he has hanging on his wall. (Some original and some just prints) Really corny music is playing in the background.
They eventually get to his drawing table where George is creating a Witchblade double cover which will contain the various versions of this character. He is filmed drawing only 2 of the many versions of the character. (about 10% of the cover)
It is interesting seeing the process. He starts with blue pencil outline and continues on with drawing in pencil. He uses reference books for the different versions of the character as well as using references for guns etc.
The following products are expected to ship to comic book
specialty stores this week. Note that this list is tentative
and subject to change. Please check with your retailer for
availability.

Hi everyone had a good time at the show, it was in a smaller room, than last year, but that was ok. My sales were down from the two previous years, but that's ok, I had a lot of fun and met a lot of cool people. Look for ad in Roy Thomas' ALTER EGO magazine real soon. George was busy as ever. I got pictures with him and Marv, look for them probably in this next issue. I also got some never published art from George too, and look for them in the next issue of PACESETTER. I was also filmed for the Modern Masters DVD, so if I don't get cut out, you may see me in the DVD. All an all a fun show.

It was good to see you again, Tony, and thanks for helping out with the DVD. Between the footage shot in George's studio and what was shot at the convention, we've got about 16 hours of footage to work with. I'm not sure how long the final product will be, but it'll probably run about 2 hours or so, plus whatever extras we decide on. I agree with you that it was a pretty fun show.

I am currently inking the incredible Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez on a project written by Phil Jimenez, who is also the cover penciler, with me inking Phil. Unfortunately, beyond that, I'm not at liberty to reveal what the project is so I've been calling it "The EZ Company Project" since all three creators share the same last two letters in our family names. DC Comics should be making an announcement relatively soon and it will be a relief to finally be able to talk about it openly.
Contrary to solicitations I have indeed drawn the cover for FALLEN ANGELS #20. Due to a mix-up in the scheduling it initially appeared that I couldn't do the cover, so the regular team was told to go ahead and draw the cover. When Peter David found out about that he reminded the editor that the deadlines had been pushed back and even though the book had been solicited with another cover, Peter figured few would be bummed out to find that there was a Pérez cover after all.
I have also drawn a cover for a Marvel Visionaries book spotlighting my 1970's run on FANTASTIC FOUR. Tom Smith colored that piece and, as usual, did a wonderful job.
I am currently drawing a variant cover for Top Cow's CITY OF HEROES #1 and will be drawing the cover for a CITY OF HEROES novel called "Web of Arachnos". This should be the first of three covers for a series of CoH novels. And since I just mentioned Top Cow, I should also announce that I will be participating in a special 10th Anniversary edition of WITCHBLADE. I will be drawing three pages written by Ron Marz. And as I draw those pages I will be filmed by a video crew for TwoMorrows' DVD companion to its MODERN MASTERS book series.
There have been other offers, including some covers for Dynamic Forces' RED SONYA and ARMY OF DARKNESS. I also will be providing a cover for DF's STORYTELLER, yet another retrospective on my career. (I am definitely being over-exposed). A cover for ForceWerks' B.A.B.E. FORCE is also on my schedule. There have been other one-shots I've been offered that I'm not yet free to discuss, or yet to accept, but after "The EZ Company Project" I will be primarily focusing my attention on completing GAMES: THE TITANS GRAPHIC NOVEL. Inker Mike Perkins has already started on some pages and Tom Smith has 30 pages ready to start so it's up to me to get busy so that Marv Wolfman can start dialoguing the first half of the book.
I hope there will be lots of George Pérez fans in attendance at this month's MegaCon. We will be there shooting footage for a DVD companion to
Modern Masters Vol. 2: George Pérez. I was hoping to get a Q&A panel where we would have audience participation, but alas, things came together a bit too late to get one on the schedule. But if you come by Friday or Saturday to get a sketch and/or autograph from George, there's a good chance you could end up on the DVD. Be warned! You may be quizzed!
