We’re back again, and hopefully this week won’t be as traumatic as last week when Corey came back into the hatch and shot Mike. Now . . . wait . . . what do you mean it didn’t happen like that? Gotcha. Grading 65 final papers this past week must be having an effect. For those of you finishing up with college, congratulations! That’s our long-distance dedication; and now, on with the countdown.
Infinite Crisis #7
Review by Troy Brownfield
The capstone of DC’s mega event arrived on Wednesday, bringing with it a number of mixed feelings. I’ve read various message boards, and I’ve seen that the feelings among fans run the gamut. Even among the Best Shots squad, there’s been some debate about the issue (for example, whose neck did Superboy-Prime break? Thank you, Matt Brady, for the answer of “Boss Moxie”). Some of us didn’t like it, some us had some serious questions, and some of us loved it.

Fantastic Four Visionaries: George Perez Vol. 2
Review by The Rev. OJ Flow
As a comic collector who really got started at the onset of the Eighties (and has historically had DC leanings), I can safely say that I have owned or at least read just about everything George Perez has done for the "Distinguished Competition." Redundancy aside, I would be all over some collections the company could produce, like, say, all of the work Perez did on Justice League of America. That was some tasty stuff, back when the uber-talented superhero artist did the unthinkable and split duties for a while on JLA and New Teen Titans. Like I said, I own it all, but some collected treatment like they've done for his time on Wonder Woman would be too awesome to pass up. In the meantime, Marvel Comics has come through with its second of two collections specifically geared toward Perez's time on the Fantastic Four in the late Seventies. Not all of it is specific to their own long-running title, but comics' First Family gets stellar treatment in this collection.

At least "Civil War" is fairly self-explanatory. The same can't be said for DC's mammoth crossover "Infinite Crisis," written by Geoff Johns and drawn by a posse headed by Phil Jimenez; its final installment also appeared May 3. If you are not already deeply immersed in the last 30 years' worth of DC Comics, it might be possible -- but not easy -- to enjoy "Infinite Crisis" as an enormous show of sound and fury, crammed to bursting with incidents and explosions and carnage and hundreds upon hundreds of characters whose presence Johns rarely bothers to explain. The impossibly convoluted plot, foreshadowed for years before it began, has spilled over into four other miniseries, a slew of one-shots and innumerable crossovers in ongoing series, and still feels breathless, dense and desperately unclear.
The miniseries' theme, though, chomps right on its own tail: "Infinite Crisis" is a superhero comic book about superhero comics as a genre and what's going on with them right now. As the title suggests, it's a sequel to Marv Wolfman and George Pérez's mid-1980s crossover "Crisis on Infinite Earths," a well-intentioned miniseries that, in an attempt to clean up the confusing elements of its fictional corporate universe, wiped out one of its most resonant concepts: that there were multiple, parallel Earths, whose histories weren't quite the same, occupying the same space and time, and that they could sometimes bleed into each other. Johns' story teases readers with the return of the parallel-Earths gimmick, but concludes that there's really only one world.

Is American Foreign Policy an Infinite Crisis?
May 5, 2006

OK, only at the start there, kind of. Actually, I am speaking of Alexander Luthor of the former Earth-3 (as with many details in this article, honestly, if you have to ask, you don't really wanna know), whose master plan came to a failed end this week in the DC Comic book Infinite Crisis #7. A 20th-anniversary sequel to the 1985 Crisis On Infinite Earths, the Infinite Crisis series was one of the comic book industry's mega-crossover events designed to force fanboys to buy every single title issued all year long, in addition to multiple new one-shots and mini-series—that depth of reading being necessary just to pretend to have some slim hope of understanding what's going on. And for the most part, they succeeded with me, capturing the attention of this reader who had entirely abandoned superhero comics for the past two decades.

INFINITE CRISIS #7 $3.99 (Geoff Johns / Phil Jimenez)
At the very least I have to tear into this book the MOMENT it comes out just to find out what exactly has happened with everyone. Are there going to be multiple Earths again, or is there still going to be the main DC Earth? Is there just the one Superman, or will the old, Earth-2 Superman be sticking around a la Jay Garrick, the original Flash?
Simply put, I HAVE to know what is going on with the DC Universe now. On top of that, I have to ask, will this issue make ANY reference to the WildStorm Universe? I'm thinking that it won't as thus far there haven't been any references to WildStorm (or have there? I know that I haven't caught any), but then again there's been a reference to Breach, a title that existed outside of the normal DC Universe (didn't it? Note to self, Michael: try doing some research on what you're talking about when you sit down to actually write a column).

I've been reading a bit of misinformation regarding my involvement with INFINITE CRISIS #6. When I read I was drawing all of Issue 6 I knew that the lines of communication had gotten tangled up a mite.
Here's the real scoop: Due to scheduling conflicts and time constrictions I will only be drawing 5 pages of issue 6, instead of the originally planned 12. Three of those pages are being reproduced from my pencils while the others (a double-pager) have been pencilled and inked by me.
This will allow me to get right to providing more artwork for Issue 7, although I don't know exactly how many pages that will be.

WIZ CHI '05 PEREZ COVERS INFINITE CRISIS
posted 08-06-2005 07:28 PM
BY NATHAN JEWELL
Bob Wayne, Greg Rucka, Dan DiDio and Joan Hilty were on the Infinite Crisis panel at Wizard World Chicago. Not a lot of new announcements were made, but the panelists did say that Ted Kord, Max Lord, Sue Dibny, and Barry Allen would not be making a return to the DCU after the Infinite Crisis.
RANDOM NOTES
The new 52 weekly series is directly spun out of events occurring in Infinite Crisis #4, which ships in March of 2006. There will be multiple teams on 52 to ensure that it's a continuous event and will come out on time.
DC announced that fan favorite artist George Perez will be drawing all the seven covers of Infinite Crisis.
There was cryptic news that Keith Giffen is working on a new series, but the publisher would not confirm what it was about or who was featured in the comic.
DCU continuity will be sustained after the Infinite Crisis.
These titles are unaffected by Infinite Crisis: Brave and the Bold, Plastic Man, the All Stars line, and Legion of Super-Heroes.
These characters are not coming back to the DCU: Ted Kord, Barry Allen, Maxwell Lord, or Sue Dibny.
When asked about a possible new Blue Beetle, the panelists said, "If there is a new Blue Beetle, it won't be Ted Kord."
Keep checking back with THE PULSE for more from Wizard World Chicago.

Donna Troy was one of the most beloved members of the DC Comics Teen Titans. Fans mourned her death in the "Graduation Day" mini-series and rejoiced when DC announced the four-issue "DC Special: Return of Donna Troy" mini-series by writer Phil Jimenez and artist Jose Garcia Lopez. However, when some readers picked up the first issue of the series they found it wasn't quite what they expected and some were left confused. CBR News chatted with Jimenez by phone last week for some clarification and background on the series and some hints on how it ties into the looming "Infinite Crisis."
(excerpt)
After the DC Universe settles down from the events of "Infinite Crisis," readers can expect appearances from Donna in a monthly DC book. "I think there's been some talk. The plan had always been that once she was reintroduced she would be placed in either the 'Titans' or 'The Outsiders.' I suspect it will be one of those books."
Jimenez has enjoyed crafting a story that reintroduces one of his favorite characters and places her at the forefront of the big events in the DC Universe. He urges readers who may be confused or have questions to stick with the book. The final two issues of "The Return of Donna Troy" should tie things together for them nicely. "I just hope readers remembers that it is a four-issue series," Jimenez said. "Just because everything wasn't explained in issue one doesn't mean it doesn't pan out over the other three issues."

The changes coming to the DC Universe following Infinite Crisis won’t be limited just to the characters. DC Executive Editor Dan DiDio has confirmed for Newsarama that, following the seven-issue Infinite Crisis miniseries, DC editorial will see a significant change as well.
In a brief chat with Newsarama Friday morning, DiDio initially explained some of the rationale behind the upcoming “One Year Later…” jump all the DCU titles will experience coming out of Infinite Crisis between February and March of 2006.
“We had an editorial meeting to talk through Crisis - how we’re going to handle it, how we’re going to coordinate it, and how we’re going to follow it,” DiDio said. “When the suggestion was made by editorial of maybe doing a leap ahead in storylines, it gave us an interesting hook that would really play nicely, because it would allow you to get back into your characters in their own individual stories again, without being made to feel that they’re all coming from the same place and the same time. With everything running as tightly as it will be in Crisis, the last thing we wanted to do was follow it by having all the series coming from the same exact place, and the same exact time, because that can get a little redundant. This allows for every series to have its own individual identity again, and allows us to get the balls back up in the air as quickly as possible and get right back into the heart of what makes each character special.”

The former Titan resurfaces with clues to 'Crisis'.
It's a brand-new dawn for Donna!
Originally Wonder Girl Donna Troy, seemingly killed in Titans/Young Justice: Graduation Day mini-series but instead transported to a strange world, roars back to life in DC Special: The Return of Donna Troy. written by Phil Jimenez with art by Jose Luis Garcia and George Perez, the four issue mini also serves as the official prologue to October's Infinite Crisis mini-series (drawn by Jimenez and written by Geoff Jones).
"This series sets Donna Troy up as a major player in the Crisis itself," the writer says. "It also connects to the cosmic events of the Rann/Thanagar War and the Teen Titans and the Outsiders. We're using her background and history to explain why she's so pivotal to the DC Universe, and why she, more than anyone else, has to be in the role she's about to take on."
Plus August's issue #3 is girl-on-girl action when Donna tangles with current Wonder Girl Cassie Sandsmark!
