'Infinite Crisis' #5 Up 11%
March a Healthy Month for Comic Sales
April 17, 2006
Diamond sold almost 202,000 copies of Infinite Crisis #5 to comic stores in March, around an 11% increase over its sales of #4. The title is a true juggernaut, taking the #1 slot in every month it's shipped. Although some of the difference in quantity between #4 and #5 may have been the times of the month they shipped (#4 shipped January 18th and #5 shipped March 1st, giving #5 two more weeks to sell reorders), the title certainly isn't losing any steam and may be picking up strength.
Over-all, it was a strong month for comic circulations, with 11 titles up and 9 down in the top 25 vs. the previous issues.

DCD (Diamond Comics Distributors) released their monthly Direct Market sales charts and Market Share report Friday, this month for titles that went on sale in March 2006, and it was split decision time again among the two major publishers. DC recorded the top-selling comic book (Infinite Crisis #5) and top-selling trade paperback (V For Vendetta) of the month, but Marvel remained on top of both Market Share categories.

WOLFMAN'S INFINITE SECRET CRISIS
posted 03-01-2006 07:45 PM
BY JENNIFER M. CONTINO
(excerpt)
THE PULSE: What were some of the things that crossed your mind when you thought about working on a project like this? How is it different in this day and age from 20 years ago when you were originally trying to keep secrets from the first Crisis from hitting the masses before they were explored on the page?
WOLFMAN: Well, I was editor of the original and therefore I had all the headaches, etc. to produce it. Also, 20 years ago nobody had ever done anything like this so getting folk to understand what we were doing was hard. Nowadays they know exactly what doing a massive crossover is like. A for keeping secrets, well, back then there was no internet so it was easy, long as we didn't talk to the fanzines, and since the story was kept under wraps for a long time that was easy, too. Lastly, I'm pretty good about not saying anything. These days it's got to be harder because so many people work on a project like this. Back then it was me, George Perez and Bob Greenberger, the associate editor on the project. Nobody else was involved.
