Working with Warner Bros. Home Video and WB Animation, the company will launch a new line of direct-to-video DC animated movies that are being designed with DC Comics fans in mind, Levitz said.
...The third title in the series will be an animated version of the classic story Teen Titans story “The Judas Contract”, written by Marv Wolfman. Tom DeStano (X-Men) will join Wolfman as co-writer and producer on the film.
"This is just the beginning," Levitz said. "We're sitting around and thinking of more...so send all your suggestions in."
Levitz also added that George Perez will be working on the animated Judas Contract as well, and that Bruce Timm will be overseeing all the animated films.
"We’re looking at more than the last five minutes of history," Levitz said in regards to what will differentiate this from movies such as Ultimate Avengers.

| George Perez has been there done that. Heck he’s even seen his work grace more than a few t-shirts. But any fan will tell you that George Perez is, hands down, the #1 artist for drawing team books and group scenes. Avengers. Justice League of America. Teen Titans. Crisis on Infinite Earths. Infinite Crisis. JLA/Avengers. JSA. He has literally drawn every character either of the “Big Two” can throw at him and he still keeps coming back for more.
(excerpt)
What’s on the horizon for you?
The Brave & the Bold with Mark Waid is supposed to start in November, but with my work on Infinite Crisis and JSA, Waid on 52, we’ve slowed down a bit. I am also working on some model sheets to give a reference file. It became obvious that something like this was needed when I was woking on JLA/Avengers, JSA and Infinite Crisis that there were too many style variations. Certain artists draw a belt a certain way, ‘Which is the acceptable version’? The model sheets will be used for costume details and hair color. For example, the Golden Age Green Lantern (Alan Scott) is the only Green Lantern to wear the ring on his left hand. All of the others wear it on their right hand, paw, tentacle or whatever. This is supposed to go together with a DC bible for Waid.

DF INTERVIEW: MARK WAID
Wednesday, April 19, 2006 10:21:11 AM
By Toney Tapia
Mark Waid was born in Hueytown, Alabama. He bought his first comic, Batman #180, at age four and has never once since entertained the notion of not buying comics. He lived all over the Deep South through his formative teenage years, though you couldn't tell it by his accent, thank God.
(excerpt)
DYNAMIC FORCES: I guess you're really busy with this small thing that's going on over at DC called "52" and the "One Year Later" Series. What do you have planned for the DC Universe during this time?
MARK WAID: If only I could reveal some of the details on 52--but we're sworn to secrecy. All I can tell you is that we're already up to issue 22 in scripts and we're having a blast. Beyond that, there's also SUPERGIRL AND THE LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES every month with Barry Kitson, and upcoming this fall, BRAVE AND BOLD with George Perez, the DC team-up book.

Who is really going to pass up the chance to talk with George Perez? The man is a legend in the comics industry, and when he talks, you damn well sit down and listen. And when he talks about a new project, you start taking notes. On the final day of the Pittsburgh Comicon, artist to the stars George Perez hosted a panel that featured updates on the up and coming new series from DC Comics, “The Brave and the Bold.” Initially, Perez was to be joined by series writer Mark Waid, but, unfortunately, Waid was unable to attend the convention. That did not, however, stop Perez from giving his fans the scoop.
First off, though, before we can get to “The Brave and the Bold,” Perez wanted everyone to know that his fill-in pages on “Infinite Crisis” #7 were indeed done and mailed out the previous Wednesday (April 19, for those of you keeping score). He also stated that he enjoyed doing the work, even though it ended up being more than he planned. That said, he moved on to the theme of the panel, the relaunch of everyone’s favorite team-up book.
...
Lastly, no talk with George Perez would be complete without a discussion of the Teen Titans. One audience member asked whatever became of the “Titans: Games” project Perez had begun with Marv Wolfman. Perez explained that, before the plug was pulled on the project, he had completed about 75 pages of artwork out of the planned 125 pages. However, the title seemed to get lost in the editorial wheels, and Perez explained that should the chance to work with Wolfman ever comes up again, he’d do it in a heartbeat, though he’d like to do something more progressive, rather than just reliving old glories. In summary, though, Perez stated that he loves working on comics, and he wants to die with an unfinished page on his drawing board.

Catching up with George Perez is no easy task. It's been a busy year for the artist. In between his time working on the interiors of the seven-part mini-series Infinite Crisis, a recent issue of JSA and the upcoming Brave and the Bold ongoing title for DC Comics, he's been churning out amazingly detailed covers for the Infinite Crisis.
But fans are lucky -- Perez does sit still for a little while when he's at comic book conventions, and he's got quite a few of them on his schedule for this summer. So, as he worked on one of over 50 sketches he completed at this past weekend's Pittsburgh Comic-Con, Newsarama had a quick chat with Perez to get the inside scoop on his latest work and a few more details about what he's doing next.
Newsarama: So it's finally happening? Months after it was announced that Mark Waid was writing a Brave and the Bold ongoing for DC with you as penciller, you're finally working on the series?
George Perez: Yes! I was supposed to start in November, but because of Infinite Crisis and JSA, and Mark being caught up in 52, it got delayed more and more. But I'm starting on the first issue, and it looks like a lot of fun. The first teaming up is Batman and Green Lantern -- in Vegas! So I've got to keep freeze-framing CSI" I believe, from what I gather, Supergirl will probably be the next character that's spotlighted.

THE BUZZ FROM THE FLOOR @ PITTSBURGH COMIC-CON 2006
by Vaneta Rogers
At this weekend's 13th annual Pittsburgh Comicon at the Monroeville ExpoMart, the floor buzz seemed to concentrate on a variety of new mini-series spinning out of the year's big events at DC and Marvel.
(excerpt)
George Perez is finally working on pencils for the new Brave and the Bold title for DC Comics, a series that was announced almost a year ago. Delayed because of the artist's work on the Infinite Crisis mini-series and writer Mark Waid's involvement in the weekly series 52, the series seems to be back on track now. Perez said he's gotten the first script, and it features a Batman and Green Lantern team-up.
"Mark has found an ingenious way of doing the old formula but working within the climate where everything has to be considered for trades," Perez explained. "I think people will really enjoy it."

Mark Waid: “We Got Both Kinds, The Brave and The Bold”
Tuesday, March 14
(excerpt)J
B: Which current DCH hero could hold a permanent team-up book spot?
MW: Batman, obviously, though plans aren't currently for him to hold down a permanent B&B slot--I want more variety. Still, that might change. Green Lantern could probably also carry a team-up book. Superman MAYBE--but after, that, not many other characters are that versatile.
JB: Lastly, and I’ll try not to make it a completely stupid question: Why George Perez on the new B&B?
MW: Because there's still three or four DCU heroes that madman hasn't yet drawn. And we'll get to 'em all. Besides, it's George--it's gonna be amazing looking. Can't wait!
JB: Thanks, Mark. I’ll be looking forward to the first issue of the new BRAVE & BOLD, as will quite a few other fanboys, I’m sure.

NYCC: DCU - BETTER THAN EVER PANEL
02-25-2006 02:13 AM
DC Comics held their second panel of the con day, DCU: Better Than Ever in another"standing room only" program, and Newsarama was on hand (where else would we be)?
Moderated by Bob Wayne, panelists included Dan Didio, Paul Levitz, Adam Kubert, Joan Hilty, Jesus Saiz, Daniel Acuna, Al Barrianuevo, Geoff Johns, and Andy Kubert, who were joined by Brad Meltzer.
The panel started with Paul Levitz explaining that originally, he tossed the idea of a “52" weekly series out almost as a joke, a riff on Fox’s 24 that Didio, Geoff Johns, and others took seriously and ran with.
(excerpt)
Didio confirmed that Teen Titans: Games has been put on indefinite hold, as George Perez had announced recently on his website, saying they felt Perez would be better suited to launch the upcoming Brave & Bold series to be written by Mark Waid.

Well, it's time for an all-too-infrequent update on what's going on at the International House of Pérez. I've read quite a number of posts on various message boards asking such things as"When will George be starting on THE BRAVE & THE BOLD?", "Will GAMES: THE TITANS GRAPHIC NOVEL ever come out?", "Is he working on the DC character turn-arounds for DC's official bible?" "Will that art be made available to the buying public?"
Well here are some answers, a few unfortunately vague because, quite truthfully, I'm not sure of the answers myself.
DC's big event books have really put a major monkey wrench in the production of the monthly books (not to mention some of the event books themselves). Because of my involvement in INFINITE CRISIS, which seems to grow with every issue, I've not been available to start anything on B & B except for the first issue's cover, which was done months ago in anticipation of my starting the actual title in November of 2005. That cover was supposed to appear in the WIZARD issue announcing DC's 2006 schedule of new titles. It was yanked when it became obvious that I could not start the book until after my return from vacation in late January so the release schedule was still undetermined. That vacation, planned over a year ago as a partial celebration of Carol's and my 25th Wedding Anniversary, also explains why I will have no interior art in IC #5. Upon my return I learned that Mark Waid, now heavily immersed in writing his share of 52, had not been able to work on B &B during my absence and will likely not be able to do so for a couple of months.
I'm not hurting for work, however, as there are plenty of pages to draw for IC 6 & 7, far more than I had imagined when I agreed to help out on the project. INFINITE CRISIS' schedule overrules all others for the next two months. That includes B &B and any art for the DC Bible.
As for the character art for the DC Bible (not its official name, by the way), I really have no idea whether it will appear in a published format, although I think it would be cool if I do a good enough job to warrant such a publication. Lord knows the royalties would be nice.
But, until I can actually start on drawing them the subject's rather moot.
The official status of GAMES is a bit more tricky. With all the post-IC work I have lined up, I don't see how I will have the time to get back on the graphic novel. Quite honestly, and honesty can be quite brutal, I wouldn't hold my breath on it ever being released. I know that my wonderful friend and co-creator Marv Wolfman is still guardedly optimistic on the resurrection of this project (a lot of that positive thinking having been fueled by me two years ago when I stated my intent to complete the art), but my subsequent exclusive contract with DC has prompted the company to utilize my talents on more current projects aimed at forming DC's future rather than just basking in the nostalgia of its past. The completed art in GAMES is over 15 years old, although it does hold up pretty damn well, in my opinion. I guess it could conceivably be restarted yet again, but it seems to become more unlikely with each new DC assignment in each passing new year. For that, I am sincerely sorry-- For Marv, for inker Mike Perkins who signed a Marvel exclusive since inking ten of the un-inked pages, for Al Vey, who had inked the earlier pages over a decade ago, for color artist Tom Smith, for the fans who have waited so long and whose hopes may be dashed yet again-- and, finally, for me. It would have been nice to put closure to the project. Oh, and for those who suggested that some other artist or artists finish the project, I suggested the same thing years ago. Unfortunately, DC only wanted this as a Wolfman/Pérez Titans story; so, without me, it's not getting done. An unfortunate Catch-22, I'm afraid. Still, there is always that small glimmer of hope. After all, what if I'm done with all my IC stuff and there's still no B & B work ready? You never know.
I do have some non-IC work down the pipe, mostly covers. I still have two more JSA covers to draw and I've drawn a RED SONJA cover for Dynamite Comics (part of an agreement that pre-dated my DC exclusive) and still have a few covers to draw for that company. There's also the cover for the final collection of my WONDER WOMAN work. I've been approached by Wildstorm for a cover, but I haven't followed up on that yet.
I am grateful that there are so many fans out there for which my continuing output seems to actually matter. Thanks for the support, the kind words, and even the critiques. Despite illnesses and setbacks, I'm thankful for the loyalty and affection of my fans. Along with the love and support of my wife, family and friends, it's what gives me the drive to get up in the morning and face that drawing board and peer into the snow-white blankness of the page-- and make my mark.

Boston Tidbits
Boston is a great town with amazing restaurants, nightlife, and a lot of cute girls out to party in between classes. Throw in a Wizard World comic convention and it turns into Shangri-La for any young fanboy. I personally had a blast and plan on being back next year.
A few choice tidbits overheard on the con floor:
* Chris Batista will pencil a 3 issue arc on Hawkman that ties in directly to Infinite Crisis (specifically the Rann-Thanagar war).
* George Perez will be pencilling one of the Superman titles next year.
* Howard Chaykin is working on a Green Lantern story.
* Walter Simonson is working on an issue of Solo.
* Andy Diggle will be part of the DC panel at Brighton. Expect some sort of announcement at that time. Bob Wayne mentioned that Diggle has more DCU and Vertigo work coming out next year.
* The new Blade television series will have a lot of big name comic book creators involved on different levels. Expect to see a lot of familiar names in the credits.
