I would like to say congratulations to Julia on the new launch of True To You! I know it will be a big success.
We are in the mid-stages of the mixing process on Ringleader Of The Tormentors here in Rome, and it has been a dazzling experience. Tony Visconti has been exceptional, and we are all very proud of the results.
The first single will be released in the second week of February, and the album will follow around March 20th.
Our plan to play Mexico City on New Year's Eve has not materialised - no decent financial offer to make the journey possible, which is sad.
We have moved our Italian and Greek and Turkish dates to February which will be the tour to launch the album.
Please watch this site for more news soon.
I am yours forever, MORRISSEY.
Morrissey is mixing his next studio album in Rome with Tony Visconti, who also produced, according to a post from the artist on the fan site True to You. Dubbed "Ringleader of the Tormentors," the set is expected for release in mid-March via Attack, with a single to precede it during the second week February.
"Not only is this a departure in his writing (my opinion) but he has extended his vocal range and has written extended melodies," Visconti recently said of the album on his own Web site. "I am two-thirds of the way through one of the best albums I've ever worked on, with not only Morrissey at his best, but the plot has twists and turns which somehow involve film composer Ennio Morricone and an Italian children's choir."
"Ringleader" will be the follow-up to 2004's "You Are the Quarry," which revived Morrissey's career in North America, debuting at a career-best No. 11 on The Billboard 200. It has sold more than 195,000 copies in North America, according to Nielsen SoundScan, his highest total since 1994's "Vauxhall and I."
And while Morrissey revealed that plans for a New Year's Eve concert in Mexico did not come to fruition ("no decent financial offer to make the journey possible, which is sad"), other shows are being planned.
"We have moved our Italian and Greek and Turkish dates to February which will be the tour to launch the album," he said on True to You.
I’m working on New York Doll – the film on behalf of First Independent Pictures.
The film is being released theatrically on 10/28 and documents Arthur “Killer” Kane’s life after the Dolls’ demise. He was living in LA as a newly converted Mormon –the film then goes into how Morrissey brought the Dolls back together to play a reunion concert in England. Morrissey appears in the film several times and is entirely responsible for the Dolls’ reformation.
I was reading INDEX MAGAZINE (Sept/Oct 2005) when I ran across this:
PETE: I've heard people compare you to Bob Dylan...
Stephen: Well, he's a Gemini. So am I. There's a strong line of rock Geminis. Prince, Brian Wilson, Morrissey, Ian Svenonius, Neil Haggerty. There are tons of us. I like Dylan's style, and I'm a fan of a lot of what he did. But I wouldn't want his mantle as far as politics is concerned - he came up at a really unique time. But Dylan's fucking weird. He's off on one. He's touring right now with a band and playing in Portland four times this year. What is bob Dylan doing playing Portland four times alongside Waylon Jennis? And playing piano? He's got an acoustic guitar, too, in case he gets inspired to pick it up. The fans are like "maybe he'll play 'Mr. Tambourine Man...'"
My brother recently showed me an AMP Sampler #16 Disc A, featuring A Whilhelm Scream's song, "Me Vs Morrissey in the Pretentious Contest (The Ladder Match)". You can hear the song on their Myspace page.
I can't believe people are still visiting this page... I have been busy (doing nothing!). If you have broadband, you can watch some of my goofy videos:
Important Isle Of Wight Announcement Friday, May 27, 2005 1:47 PM
Morrissey will regrettably not be appearing at the Isle Of Wight Festival on the 11th of June as scheduled. The pressure of preparing the new album and losing his drummer earlier this month has made it impossible to do the gig without massively compromising both the gig and the album. Apologies to all the fans, the organisers and the people of the Isle Of Wight.
Yeah, someone had this crazy idea to bike to the Triple Rock Venue to see Stereo Total. I was like, "yeah, let's totally go for it !!!!" all gung-ho and crazy. So I took the front wheel off my bike and stuck the bike into my trunk with hardcore effort. When I got there, she's in a skirt and had already consumed 3/4 of a bottle of red wine, hahaha.
Filter Magazine and MySpace present Girls and Boys DJ tour featuring Andy Rourke and Alex English! The former bassist of the legendary band The Smiths is back on a DJ tour across the USA. Andy, who has also played bass for Badly Drawn Boy, has an arsenal of new tunes.
Norfolk, Va. — Pop legend Morrissey’s eagerly anticipated DVD Who Put the M in Manchester has a message beyond the self-reflective lyrics that millions of his fans around the world have come to expect: a copy of PETA’s hard-hitting video "Meet Your Meat"—narrated by actor Alec Baldwin. It might seem an odd pairing, but Morrissey, a longtime vegetarian, is fed up with the meat industry’s horrific abuse of farmed animals, and Baldwin, who has addressed Congress about the need to enforce and strengthen the Humane Slaughter Act, describes conditions on factory farms and in slaughterhouses as "beyond your worst nightmares."
"Meet Your Meat" contains shocking footage of animals, some crippled and bleeding, violently thrown into transport containers and flailing in fear down the slaughterhouse line. It asks meat-eaters to consider that chickens, pigs, and cows are sensitive, intelligent animals who experience pain, fear, love, and joy but are routinely subjected to hideous abuses on factory farms.
Says Morrissey, "I have arguments with people who are the most diehard carnivores, but once you have an intelligent debate with somebody, you can see how they begin to break down a little and their edges become softer, and you can see that this is not a difficult topic—the whole idea of vegetarianism is so simple. … Nobody can come up with a good argument for eating animals—nobody can." The 1985 album Meat Is Murder, which Morrissey recorded when he was lead singer for The Smiths, is still inspiring young people to go vegetarian.
What’s PETA’s beef with meat? Animals on factory farms suffer mutilations and other forms of abuse from which cats and dogs are legally protected. Pigs are confined to concrete-floored stalls and have their tails cut off—and male pigs are also castrated—without pain relief. Chickens are jam-packed into wire cages, and their sensitive beaks are cut off so that they can’t peck each other. At slaughter, many chickens are still conscious when their throats are slit and they are scalded alive in feather-removal tanks. According to U.S. Department of Agriculture meat inspectors, cows are often dismembered while they are still conscious.

I know, I know, I haven't written in a while (not that you missed me). For the three of you that still visits the website (god knows why) I hope things are good with you.
I also just wanted to let you know that Spring is here.... which means that I will probably be retiring this website for a while.
So, here is a recent photograph of my current bicycle and me.
Yeah, we look tough, yo.
And of all the rotten luck - I found out that I won a date... with a guy ! It also involves getting filthy in mud and a prom. I have no idea what's going on, details are pretty vague, but I was promised it will be fun and that I didn't have to make out with Aaron or Theresa (my other date I guess).
Oh, I helped my friend Chrissy get this gig with Girl in a Coma! To be honest, all I did was told Chrissy that GIAC was looking for local Philly bands and the rest just few into place. Anyroad, the band is featured on their local newspaper:
On Myspace they liken themselves to "candy that makes noise," but that might bring to mind some sugary-sweet pop band. Nope. Scratchy-voiced Xrissy and the rest of this Philly four-piece make raw, melodic punk pop about lust, angst and feeling fucked up. That puts them squarely in the "noisy cough drop" category.

Also, it's much too late to mention it, but Canada was great, I had such a good time there. I secretly want to be Canadian now. Thanks for reading, have a great day !

Who Put the “M” in Manchester? (Attack/SVE) DVD
Live at Earls Court (Attack/Sanctuary) CD
Morrissey had the busiest year of his career in 2004, with You Are the Quarry becoming his most successful CD ever, with four singles going top ten in the UK and US radio embracing his two single releases stateside. He graced countless magazine covers, performed on television and took “the show on the road,” with a sold out world tour. On the heels of the tour, which wrapped up in December 2004, Morrissey is releasing a live DVD and CD, both of which capture a different facet of the tour.
The DVD, Who Put the “M” in Manchester? (Attack/Sanctuary Visual Entertainment), was filmed May 22, 2004 shortly after the release of You Are the Quarry at his now legendary homecoming/birthday show in Manchester, England. The DVD showcases not only the album, but includes both Morrissey and Smiths classics. The concert was filmed by Bucky Fukumoto from A/V Club, who also directed Morrissey's three music videos for this album, all of which are included as DVD extras.
The CD, Live at Earls Court, captures the end of the tour and was recorded over the final 5 sold out dates in London, Glasgow, Birmingham, Brighton and Dublin this past December. The CD will have a different track listing from the DVD and will also include additional never before performed b-sides as well as rarely performed Morrissey and Smiths classics.
The track will be accompanied by There Is A Light That Never Goes Out and Noise Is The Best Revenge.
A DVD single will also be released featuring footage of Morrissey performing There Is A Light from his upcoming Who Put The M in Manchester DVD and a video montage as well as It's Hard To Walk Tall When You're Small from BBC Radio 2's Janice Long session.
Seven-inch and maxi singles are also planned.
The former Smiths' frontman releases a live album, Morrissey Live At Earl's Court and the Who Put The M in Manchester DVD recorded at his at his comeback show in May 2004 on April 4.
MORRISSEY is to release his cover of PATTI SMITH’s ’REDONDO BEACH’ as a single.
The track, a live favourite last year, will be released on March 28.
'Redondo Beach' will be accompanied by a version of The Smiths’ classic ’There Is A Light That Never Goes Out’ and new song ’Noise Is The Best Revenge’.
A DVD single will also be released featuring footage of Morrissey performing ’There Is A Light That Never Goes Out’ from his upcoming ’Who Put The M in Manchester’ DVD and ’It's Hard To Walk Tall When You're Small’ from a recent session on BBC Radio 2's Janice Long programme.
WHO PUT THE "M" IN MANCHESTER? MORRISSEY CELEBRATES HIS 45TH BIRTHDAY, WITH A SELL-OUT
HOMECOMING GIG AT THE MEN ARENA, MANCHESTER
DVD RELEASED 4th APRIL 2005
WHO PUT THE "M" IN MANCHESTER?
(Apr 2005)
On 22nd May 2004, Morrissey returned to his hometown of Manchester to play a very special comeback show. Celebrating his 45th birthday with 20,000 well-wishers from the city, which has provided years of lyrical inspiration; "Who Put The "M" In Manchester?" Morrissey of course!
The live in concert DVD entitled "Who Put The "M" In Manchester?" will be released by Sanctuary Visual Entertainment on 4th April 2005. A live in concert CD, capturing tracks from his sold out U.K. gigs will also be released by Sanctuary Records on Attack Records on the same day. Entitled "Morrissey Live At Earl's Court" this must-have album will contain gems from "You Are The Quarry", plus additional never-before-performed B-sides, rare Morrissey classics as well as classic songs from The Smiths rarely performed by Morrissey.

2004 has proved to be Morrissey's most successful year to date. Platinum sales, 4 consecutive top 10 singles (the only artist to achieve this in 2004), Brit Award nomination, festival and sold out arena dates, front covers on Mojo, Word, Time Out and TV appearances on Jonathan Ross, CD:UK, TOTP and Frank Skinner … the list goes on.
Anticipation for this homecoming gig was high, with tickets selling out in less than an hour. Morrissey's latest studio album "You Are The Quarry" has been his most commercially successful to date, with the comeback single "Irish Blood, English Heart" charting in the top three. Manchester's prodigal son didn't disappoint. With his name spelt out in huge red neon lights akin to the set of Elvis Presley's 1968 Comeback TV Special, Morrissey delivered a powerful live performance showcasing just why his legions of diehard fans are now bumping shoulders with the mainstream.
I don't normally post my blogs, but this is a special case, because I'm hoping to meet other people while I'm in Toronto.
My friend Karren wrote back:
oh my god!!! VU ahhh!!! i'm so happy you're coming here!! it's about time!! hehe. oh, i can't wait!!! yay! yay! yaaaay!!
you are TOTALLLY WELCOME to stay with us....we'd LOVE to have you over, vu!! :) stay, stay, stay! :)
I love it that she's so excited.
My laptop is coming along, but I don't think I will be posting/updating as much. I have a pretty solid schedule, and I'm not sure if I'll have the time to be honest...
I got my flight itinerary today. The roundtrip ticket was pretty amazingly cheap, it was $169.10 plus $67.65 (taxes/fees). I used www.priceline.com, mostly because I've used them in the past for cheap airfares (and William Shatner is their spokesman!!).
I guess I should let you know that I'll be staying mostly with Linh, my old penpal from 1993. It's great, we met through a friendship booklet because she liked my xfiles and music selections. We became good, good friends.
We finally met in October 1996 (see picture). I had to alter the picture because I haven't asked Linh for permission to post it.
There's other people in it - my oldest (in terms of knowing) friend, Melinda and Mark. Mel is doing well I hear. She's leaving Japan and embarking on Manchester or something ? Sigh, it must be nice to have her job !
I will also finally meet my two old, dear friends, the twins of coolness: Karren & Sandy. Hooray!
Anyroad, if you live in Toronto/near it, send me a message. Let's hang out! I'll buy you beer and stuff.
Anyway, for something completely different, my german friend sent me these two links: megaflicks and www.penisland.net. No seriously hilarious links!!
"Prodigal Son or Conquering Hero? The latter, I think."
He was becalmed in Los Angeles for six years - "time flows quickly when you're asleep".
But Morrissey saved his triumphant return for the moment he was needed the most.
The day that I speak to Morrissey, one Charles Windsor is in the news again. The ageing job-seeker of whom our boy once ask "Oh Charles, don't you ever crave to appear on the front of the Daily Mail dressed in your mother's bridal veil" has this time delivered himself of an extraordinary outburst. It concerns the upstart nature of the great unwashed - or you and I if you prefer - viz: "What is the matter with these people… wanting to be pop stars … aspiration above talents… harrumph."

Given Morrissey's past pronouncements (he did once sing rather fetchingly of wanting to drop his trousers to Charles' mummy after all) and also given that Chas seems to be railing against the jumped-up pantry boys of England, I wonder what Morrissey makes of it all.
"Well, it's a very silly thing to say. But then he's a very silly man, isn't he? Aspirations in excess of talent? Well, doesn't he have aspirations? After all, doesn't he aspire to (fruity chortle) occupy his mother's seat."
Welcome back, old chum. We've missed you. We really weren't getting answers like that from David Sneddon.
David who?
Exactly.
At the height of the weekly music press's tortured, doomed, obsessive love-hate affair with Morrissey, the story went that more people bought the paper when his face and torso was splashed across the cover than sometimes bought Morrissey had fans who were as keen, maybe keener, on his interviews than his records. This was said not so much to belittle his work, but rather to point out how Morrissey had turned the interview into an art form, into a devastating weapon in his artistic armoury, as important as his alluring voice or his unique lyrics.
Lou Reed and Van Morrison were rude in interviews, Brian Eno was clever. Brian Wilson was damaged. But Morrissey was the first musician, at least since the Beatles or Bowie, to charm, to delight, to dazzle.
Of those three weekly music papers that fed voraciously and somewhat ungratefully on him, two are gone and one is ailing. Morrissey however is bigger than ever. Opinion is one thing but the facts cannot lie. This year he has played to the biggest audiences of his career, had his biggest hit single ever, sold almost a million aabums and gazed in that wry, yet strong-jawed '50s film star way from every magazine and TV show imaginable. Forget 1983 - he certain has - this has been Morrissey's annus mirabilis.
"Yes, it's been very amusing hasn't it. Prodigal Son? Or Conquering Hero? The latter I think."
I thought this might interest some Morrissey fans ?

I'd like to take a brief time out from the world of Morrissey and ask for your support for a personal community effort to raise funds for the South Asian tsunami disaster still in need. I'm taking donations through the end of January to go towards CAREs Asia Disaster Relief and Rehabilitation Fund in the name of the Morrissey-solo community. If you have already given, please give again! I donated $500 earlier to Oxfam and am donating another $500 for this collection. I'll report at the end how much was collected.
If you would like to donate by credit card (or PayPal account), click below:
If you would like to donate in another way, please email me at david[a]morrissey-solo.com . Info on CARE.
I was watching this film, "Gypsy 83", today and noticed the Morrissey and Interlude poster in the background. The director commented that it was tough to get permission and rights for all those posters (Bauhaus, The Cure, etc.)
So, I'm an internet junkie, what can I say ?
I had disconnected my land-line telephone last Wednesday and I thought that the cable man was going to show up on that Wednesday to hook me up to the internet. As it happened, the next guy wasn't going to be available in my area until this Sunday (12/19), which kind of annoyed me because that would leave me with a few days of a lack of the 'net. Sigh.
I suppose it could be worst,
but I can't believe it's not better.
Okay, so here is the breakdown of cost from before and after:
SPRINT - $28.95 for standard telephone service
- $0.00 for work internet
- Connects at "56.6k"
- DSL not available via Sprint in my area.
- Note: time-consuming... takes forever to download, sometime randomly disconnect
COMCAST - $47.95 for internet ($29.95 for the first 3 months)
- $9.95 television
- $3.00 modem rental (can't commit to this yet, but eventually I will buy one for myself)
- Connects at 2-3mbs
I realized that I am paying twice as much as dial-up (which was basically for the telephone service), but there was a time that I was paying an additional $10 a month for dial-up, so technically it would've been more like $40 vs $60.
Plus, the other thing is that I have two computers and we can both be online at the same time, as opposed to what was available previously: one telephone line.
Anyway, it should be good, I'm looking forward to a faster internet experience. If you know of a cheaper broadband-type of service that's available without the telephone service (I've read a lot about "naked DSL" lately, which I'm assuming will be cheaper than cablenet), please let me know. I'm only loyal to the lowest rate, because I'm poor.
So I am a sucker. I bought this album again. I have all the b-sides, I have most of the DVD stuff, but I still bought the Deluxe Edition. I know, I know.
The DVD was primarily the reason why I got this version. The video for "Irish Blood, English Heart" is like the most uninspiring video in the world. Can you say "Boring"? And what's with all the hipster kids ?
I will have to post some screen shots from the various videos on here later when I have time. But I did really like the live footage of the Morrissey DVD "WHO PUT THE M IN MANCHESTER?" which is going to be released March 2005.
I am hoping that "I Have Forgiven Jesus" (import only?) will be carried by Best Buy as I have a gift certificate there.
I really wish I lived near a Tower Records, HMV or Virgin.
You are Elastica. You like to keep yourself busy. You don't crave attention or money. You do what you want and don't care what anyone thinks of you. You're spiky, tough and energetic.
VAMPIRES: THE MASQUERADE
(Nov 2004)
I hate these quiz things that everyone likes. I had to take this particular one only because I was trying to get "You are Sleeper", but unfortunately there were only a few results and Elastica seems like a good choice if any.
You know, I've lost my 5th ATM Bank Card. Everytime I lose them, I always tell myself "Never again!!" It's always one thing: I stick my card in the Automatic Teller Machine and then as soon as it spits out money, I'm off running !!
I'm playing this video game called "Vampires: The Masquerade" and there is this woman in the video game that looks just like Louise ! At least, I think it looks like her :)
I hung out with my brother yesterday and we watched Morrissey and The White Stripes videos. I didn't know he liked them at all, I guess he's really growing up.
I bought my first scarf yesterday too. EL tells me it's very "peppery" and then made fun of my hat.
At the video shop today, I ran into two people I knew, but I couldn't remember their names. I'm terrible with names. They looked at what I was renting: The Stepford Wives (2004), Envy, and Lady Death. I told them, "It's free, don't make fun of my choices."
Since joing Hollywood Video's "MVP" program, I've must've rented at least 60 DVDs in the course of two months.
We will be leaving to England Jan. 14th threw the 20th to make our EP with Boz Boorer!! As some of you may know he is the guitarist for Morrissey. We are soo excited such a dream come true! We also should be playing a show in Camden, but we will keep you posted on that. The EP should be released mid next year and we will be back out on tour very soon. Thanks to all for the support and see ya soon!

I'm going to Scottsdale, Arizona, for a work-related event in January 2005. I was told that the resort there is quite nice and I have my own room. Internet will be provided, so I'm taking my home laptop, and hopefully it'll be good and fun. I think the only real work day is Thursday, I will be assisting in a Power Point presentation. Friday, I think I'm going to do a hot air balloon (it was either that or more golfing or ATV/Hummer in the desert). Not really sure what I'm actually doing in AZ, but hey, it's all paid for, so I might as well show up.
I'm hoping to be around Toronto, Canada, around March 2005-ish. I will be seeing some really, really old friends called Karren & Sandy (can't believe their photograph are online because they're so camera shy!) and Linh, who I met through a Friendship Book (penpal) around 1995. I've met Linh in real-life before in Los Angelese, I still have this old photograph of us being all young and dorky.
Oh, and I haven't scared off Celeste.... yet. (Shadez is Celeste).
Sigh, I wish someone else would move up here!
Update: My DVD list is now automatic via Intervocative Software. If you choose to, you can have your DVD list online, so anytime you add something new, the list gets updated. It's a pretty neat software.
Oh, my S*M*A*S*H website is getting quite a bit of activity due to their tour recently.
Although this is purely an American thing, I wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving. This year we did Taco Thanksgiving, which I don't really recommend. I mean hot salsa & turkey just doesn't mix well, you know?
Tomorrow is the biggest shopping day of the year, so there are some crazy sales happening. I might go to a few tomorrow, hopefully I won't get crushed by the other shoppers...
Join us on this holiday as the popscene DJs go deep into the Smiths/ Morrissey catalog for all you people who love them. Last year was a blast, so come out and have some fun with your friends. Its not like you have to work the next day, right?
WHO NEEDS FLU SHOTS WHEN RHINO HAS THE CURE! DATE: OCTOBER 26, 2004
Highly Anticipated Cure Reissue Campaign Begins With Expanded, Remastered THREE IMAGINARY BOYS December 7
THREE IMAGINARY BOYS
(Dec 2004)
LOS ANGELES - Twenty-five years after
The Cure began their global pop invasion with their debut disc, THREE IMAGINARY BOYS, Rhino Records gives the album its first-ever U.S. domestic release with a deluxe two-disc edition loaded with previously unreleased tracks. THREE IMAGINARY BOYS will be available December 7 at all retail outlets and at www.rhino.com
for a suggested retail price of $18.98.
The album marks the kickoff to Rhino Records' revitalization of The Cure catalog. Each title will receive a sonic upgrade and be released as a deluxe double-disc set featuring the original album on one CD and numerous rarities on the other. In addition, each release will come with a 16-page booklet filled with photos and tour memorabilia from the personal archives of vocalist Robert Smith, as well as a track-by-track commentary and notes by U.K. music scribe Johnny Black.
Cure fans have long clamored for THREE IMAGINARY BOYS, an energetic 1979 U.K. debut which features "10:15 Saturday Night," "Grinding Halt," "Fire In Cairo," and a quirky rendition of Jimi Hendrix's "Foxy Lady." The band's debut U.S. album, Boys Don't Cry, featured many of the songs on THREE IMAGINARY BOYS along with singles like "Jumping Someone Else's Train" and "Boys Don't Cry." The Rhino reissue offers the original U.K. album with an added previously unreleased instrumental ("The Weedy Burton"), as well as a 20-track bonus disc which includes the additional tracks from Boys Don't Cry, previously unreleased studio and home demo versions, live renditions, and other curiosities. In total the package includes six previously unreleased songs, eight previously unreleased versions of songs, and 17 tracks never before available on CD.
Johnny Black's liner notes, which make use of extensive and exclusive
interviews with Robert Smith, provide fascinating insight into the making of this classic album. One interesting story tells how The Cure managed to get the album recorded with virtually no budget: they simply snuck into Morgan Studios at night once the Jam had finished their sessions, and, using the Jam's gear, recorded through the night till dawn.
It's been almost three decades since a 17-year-old Smith formed The Easy Cure in Crawley, England. Despite various lineup changes, The Cure have forged an ongoing career highlighted by an astonishing run of artistic and commercial successes, including chart-topping hit singles, gold and platinum records, countless awards, critical acclaim, and an international fan base that follows the band with religious fervor. They have secured their place in music history by shaping modern rock as we know it today.
I probably would've enjoyed a night's sleep if it wasn't for Celeste, who was going to see Lali Puna (with Alias and Duo 505).
So we went and I was pleasantly suprised to see that this was part of the Morr Music Tour! The company released a non-Morrissey (that is Morrissey doesn't appear or has anything to do with the record) called
Putting the Morr Back In Morrissey, a 2-disc compilation of their bands.
I only know about the compilation because, as obsessed as I am, I always look in the "Morrissey" section at the local music store to see what's new, and that compilation is there.

I think I am having a pretty good birthday (for once!), because of Raul, Celeste, Sara, my sister, and Dave.
Spent Saturday at the Minnesota Art Institute.
Spent Sunday eating Dim Sum.
Will be spending Monday semi-at-home. I have to show up for a 2 hour meeting, but it's my day off!!
Will be having a lunch "date" with Sophia on Tuesday.

Sometime people's priorities are kind of funny.
For instance, my brother, who constantly is running low on cash, spent $30 on a cap because "it looked cool".
Or how about Celeste? She brought two crates of records, a record player... and one pair of socks.
Or the worst case of all: me. I sort of bought a house, but I'm going through a midlife crisis, so I also want a superduper fast car and, perhaps, a tank.
Also, I now know three or four Texans, and I think they're all very cool! How come none of them have accents ? Y'know what I mean, sugar?
Morrissey's latest studio album, "You Are the Quarry," will be reissued in a deluxe edition Dec. 7 via his Attack imprint for Sanctuary. The original album comprises disc one, while the second disc sports nine B-sides, two music videos and three live performances from "The Late Late Show With Craig Kilborn."
Morrissey has been playing a number of the B-sides on his current North American tour, including "Teenage Dad on His Estate," "Munich Air Disaster 1958," "The Never Played Symphonies" and "Don't Make Fun of Daddy's Voice." The track list is rounded out by "It's Hard To Walk Tall When You're Small," "Friday Mourning," "My Life Is a Succession of People Saying Goodbye," "Mexico" and "I am Two People."
The new edition's visual component comprises videos for album tracks "Irish Blood, English Heart" and "First of the Gang To Die" and Morrissey's performances of the latter track plus "Let Me Kiss You" and "I Have Forgiven Jesus" on Kilborn's show. A gallery of 32 images from the artist's 2004 tour rounds out the package.
"You Are the Quarry" debuted at No. 11 on The Billboard 200 in May, earning Morrissey his highest placement either as a solo artist or as a member of the Smiths. The set has sold more than 179,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The next North American single from the album, "I Like You," is expected early next year.
MORRISSEY TO RELEASE DELUXE EDITION OF "YOU ARE THE QUARRY" IN DECEMBER ON ATTACK/SANCTUARY
November 9, 2004 "You Are the Quarry is a triumph of maladjusted vitality."
Rolling Stone, May, 2004
"Those who miss the voice are in for a treat; Morrissey has never sounded better."
Spin, May, 2004
"His knack for turning the unlikeliest of hooks into infectiously insouciant anti-anthems make this a misfit must-have."
Interview, June, 2004
On the heels of his sold out US tour, Morrissey will release a deluxe edition of his critical and commercial smash album, You Are the Quarry, in December on Attack/Sanctuary. The CD/DVD combo set will contain all of You Are the Quarry and an additional nine b-sides, only six of which have been released in the US. The DVD will showcase Morrissey's three live performances on The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn in July of this year, the hit videos for "Irish Blood, English Heart" and "First of the Gang to Die," and a 29 picture tour photo gallery.
An unprecedented success, You Are the Quarry is Morrissey's most successful album of his career, solo or with The Smiths. With the support of radio and MTV, VH1 and Fuse, the album debuted at #11 in the US , #2 in the UK and has sold over 1 million copies worldwide. Sold out tours in Europe and the US followed, along with rave live reviews from critics around the world. Having already produced three Top Ten hits in the UK, Morrissey’s next single for America, “I Like You,” will be released in early 2005.
Tonight on "Bands Reunited" in a behind the scenes show, they showed footage of how they failed to get Moz to participate in a Smiths reunion. They attempted to approach him during the Apollo Theater gig.
Pretty twisted. They showed that guy Ameer trying to ambush Moz on his way to the theater. They waited five hours and Steven just blitzed by them into the side door.
They made no real attempt to approach him assertively and acted surprised that he wouldn't just stop in his tracks and eagerly be interviewed.
They have managed to reunite some really decent bands from the 1980's, but they should have done their homework better for this attempt.
I'm sure they'll replay this "behind the scenes" show a few times. Only current Morrissey footage shows him going in the side door of the Apollo. They also use some footage from Smiths Videos.
There's a few very, very odd postings in the guestbook. First of all, we all know there's only three of us that visits this website (and one of them is me)! So, no one is really reading the guestbook, now, are they?
Anyway, ever had a song stuck in your head in a loop that just won't go away? Mine was Information Society's Mirrorshades:
She said "Now you're here, you've got to show and prove,
And do that dance until it don't move.
The phone doesn't work so you won't be calling home."
I had to revisit the Hack album and it is so good. I love all the songs on it, and it's a total departure from their first record, which was basically pop music. I love InfoSoc, I mean they lived in Minneapolis for a time!
Celeste is arriving here on Saturday and I'm so excited about it. I left a voice mail on her cell phone and must've sounded like a complete dork. I had 20 things I wanted to say, but none of them came out in proper complete sentences.
I wanted to say, "We've never talked to each other, so, this is my voice. Hello, how are you? I hope you have a safe drive. Look forward to seeing you."
Instead, this is what I sounded like, "Oh, erm hi, my voice. Drive. See you. White Pizza" (My boss was asking what I wanted for lunch.)
John Peel often told the story hearing 'Teenage Kicks' for the first time.
He was driving in his car listening to the song on a demo tape. He was so
overcome by the tune that he pulled onto the side of the road to have a cry.
There are thousands of people across Britain today who will have had a
similar experience on hearing of his untimely death.
The broadcasting legend, who had a career spanning over 40 years, was on holiday in Peru when he was taken ill.
A statement has been issued by the BBC which reads: "It has been confirmed that BBC radio broadcaster John Peel died from a heart attack last night whilst on holiday in Peru. He leaves behind his wife Sheila and four children."
Returning to Britain, he became a pirate radio DJ, before joining Radio 1 for its launch in 1967, quickly establishing himself with the late night programme Top Gear. John was the first DJ to give exposure to punk, reggae, and hip-hop, long before they crossed over into the mainstream.
Morrissey Ticket Presale: Las Vegas
Monday, October 11, 2004 1:34 PM
Starting Tuesday, October 12 at 12 pm PST, there will be a presale for the November 13 show at the Joint in Las Vegas, NV. Go to morrissey.tickets.musictoday.com to order.
In 1991 Morrissey toured North America for the first time since the generation-defining break-up of The Smiths four years earlier, a split so unexpected, so premature, and, in retrospect, so unnecessary that many of the band's fans remember where they where when news of the break-up reached them, the way others remember where they when they learned of JFK's assassination, or the Challenger disaster. As Simon Reynolds wrote, in what remains perhaps the best article ever written about Morrissey, "Fanaticism is the true experience of pop, not discrimination and broad-mindedness." Smiths fans have always been among the most fanatical fans of them all. They make Deadheads look uncommitted. To those infected with the Morrissey disease, the Smiths were never just another band: They were everything. They were more important than family and friends, than fortune or the plans for the future.
Thank you to everyone for your kind letters of support and concern about Morrissey’s well being. He sends his very best wishes and looks forward to seeing you all on tour over the next few months starting in Washington next week. What should have been a wonderful triumphant weekend playing to 35,000 of you in LA and 10,000 or you in San Francisco ended on Saturday morning with sinusitis, acute laryngitis and a high fever with orders from Dr Joseph Sugarman to get to bed and not speak for the next 48 hours at a minimum. Sadly we not only had to postpone the shows but also cancel (at great expense!) the video shoot for Let Me Kiss You which was due for Tuesday. The most important thing of course is Morrissey’s health and we are happy to report that with the prescribed rest he will be ready to go next week and we will make an announcement later this week on a special event to make up for the KROQ show that all 35,000 of you who were there on Saturday will get to see and the same for the ALICE show in San Francisco. On a final note we understand that there are those in the Morrissey community on morrissey-solo.com spreading erroneous rumours about lawsuits and questioning whether KROQ did everything possible to bring you the information in a timely fashion. I can assure you that the rumours are false and the integrity of KROQ cannot be questioned. They handled a very difficult situation impeccably and you should treat anything you are told to the contrary as rubbish.
Best wishes,
Merck Mercuriadis

Review
Morrissey has just released his first studio album in seven years, exactly twenty years after The Smith's debut album. 'Jewel In The Crown' looks back on his career and provides unique insights into Morrissey's career through previously unseen footage, exclusive interviews and insider information.

NME's cover depicts Morrissey and Carl Libertine, while the newspaper proclaims Morrissey's comeback complete, following his fine performance at reading, and his Summer capped.
There is a page devoted to Morrissey and "his young lions" - the likes of The Ordinary Boys, The Libs and Franz whose sound and lyrical content he so obviously influenced, following their performances on the same say at Reading/Leeds.
Q meanwhile runs a feature on "the greatest songwriters" listing Morrissey and Marr up there with the very best. An entire page of fawning praise/adulation and comments from the likes of Ryan Adams accompanies the article, which also lists the 10 essential Moz/Marr moments. A curious selection indeed, including the likes of "Sweet and Tender Hooligan" and "A Rush and a Push" among the ten, but omitting many of their more widely appreciated songs.

Description: A list of Morrissey/The Smiths related films.
The Collector (1965)
The sleeve of "What Difference Does It Make" features a still of Terence Stamp from The Collector. The song "Tomorrow" quotes the film saying "Put your arms around me. I won't tell anybody".
Flesh (1968)
The Smiths self-titled LP features Joe Dallesandro from Andy Warhol's Flesh on its sleeve.
In the early Seventies, you couldn’t open a music magazine without seeing Jobriath. Full page ads in the likes of Vogue, Penthouse and the New York Times heralded the artist, the likes of which had never been seen by the music industry, with a 50-foot billboard in Times Square glowering over New York’s commuters. He truly was the first mass marketed rock star, and sadly for Jobriath, no one paid attention to the hype – which for once, may have been very much on target. Openly gay and widely acclaimed, Jobriath has achieved an iconic status which only seems to grow as time passes.
The two albums he cut during 1973-1975 are collector’s items today and deservedly so. Now, for the first time ever on CD, Jobriath’s cult classics will serve as an inspiration for others to follow in his other-worldly footsteps. Produced by Eddie Kramer (Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin), this rare collection is a must have for music lovers young and old.
Compiled from tracks off of Jobriath’s two albums by longtime fan Morrissey, Lonely Planet Boy features 15 tracks, one never-released song and liner notes penned by Moz. "The songs of the martyred Jobriath are deep and rich reserves of almost surgical thoroughness - fantastic and emotional pop permanence," says Morrissey.
Rock’s glam child stepped onto the scene with flamboyancy like no other. Look for Jobriath’s Lonely Planet Boy on Attack/Sanctuary CD’s October 26th, 2004.

The DVD was released 8/17/2004, and as previously mentioned on Morrissey-Solo, the documentary contain interviews with Johnny Marr. The soundtrack on Shout Records also contain the Smiths' "London".
Here is a screen capture of Johnny Marr in London:
The documentary is primarily focused on Rodney Bingenheimer, music fan/journalist/promoter/DJ, who's lead quite an interesting life as a fan who's obsessed with celebrities. He's a very strange man, and you would never think that this person knows Elvis Presley, John Lennon, The Doors, The Rolling Stones, and so on. David Bowie, apparently, used to send Rodney demo cassettes!
There's a few other interesting items in the documentary, and, I guess, Rodney, was pretty wild back in his early days before KROQ.
On the second commentary, with Chris Carter and Rodney Bingenheimer, they mentioned Morrissey:
Chris: Intermission. That's it-- Back. Smiths. (The Smiths' "London" is playing). We're just in time for the comeback of Morrissey.
Rodney: Yeah. The new album is pretty good.
Chris: Is it?
Rodney: Yeah, it's really good.
Chris: I know he play the whole month at the Wiltern.
Rodney: I went to see Morrissey with Nancy Sinatra
Chris: Oh, that's right, he's a big fan of hers, right? Did you know Steve MacDonald, the other MacDonald, in the Sparks now, is playing for the Morrissey-thing, in that thing that he picks all the bands?
Rodney: The Meltdown Festival. The New York Dolls are getting back together.
August 20, 2004 01:32 am | First of the Gang to Die DVD
I'm not terribly excited about the cover, which is probably the worst Morrissey cover of all time.
There were two version that I saw, a CD single and the DVD single. The CD version includes "My Life Is An Endless Succession Of People Saying Goodbye", which was not on the DVD. The DVD version has a live version (and video) of "The First of the Gang to Die", which, I guess, is taken from the M.E.N. Arena on 22 May 2004.
The behind-the-scenes photos accompanied the b-sides gets boring really fast.
Here are some of the photographs:
If you're cheap, like me, you can convert your DVD single to CD audio through either a DVD Audio Ripper or the free Audacity. You will need the "Lame" plugin to convert the file to MP3.
NICK FROST, SIMON PEGG, and EDGAR WRIGHT
(15 Aug 2004)
I went to see the Minneapolis/US premiere of "Shaun of the Dead" film last Sunday. The film will be released in general selected theaters (500 screens) in September 24.
The film is a romantic comedy (with zombies). There was rarely a moment where the zombies were treated as a joke, they were real, and they could kill, yet the heart of the story is about Shaun's relationship with his girlfriend, his best friend, and his parents. There were a lot of reference/homages to earlier zombie films such as "We're coming to get you, Barbara" (from Night of the Living Dead), to the stomach-ripping scene (from Day of the Dead), to the virus-carrying monkey (from 28 Days Later).
Morrissey does appear in this film, by the way. A scene with a clueless Shaun was flipping through the television, all the news about a breakout and, for three seconds, you see The Smiths singing, "Panic on the streets of London". Very funny, there was a hoorah reaction from the audience too!
The clip they used was from the Derek Jarman video, appearing on THE SMITHS: THE COMPLETE PICTURE.
After the screening, there was a special Question & Answer session with director Edgar Wright, co-writer/star Simon Pegg, and co-star Nick Frost.
Here are some interesting items from the session:
The US DVD release will have more special features than the UK DVD, because there's a lot of things that had happened since the UK release (especially since they realized they outgross the original Dawn of the Dead and 28 Days Later in the UK).
A zombie extra actually had one of his eye pop out. Medical reasonings, not because of an accident on set.
The film was made for a mere £4 million.
Sorry for the crappy photograph, I took it secretly with my PDA. Edgar did take a photograph of the audience, which I'm pretty sure I'm in it, but I don't think the photograph is up yet. Check out the official website: www.shaunofthedeadmovie.com (I'm 'sleeperzombie' in case you want to give me some pints), or IMDB: Shaun of the Dead. You can read a review of the UK DVD at DVD Times.co.uk.
This week, from my desk to yours: a few tidbits and followups.

NANCY SINATRA
Let Me Kiss You
Producer(s): AJ & Matt Azzarto, Don Fleming
Writer(s): Morrissey, A. Whyte
Publisher(s): Artane
Genre: POP
Label/Catalog Number: (CD single)
Source: Billboard Magazine
Originally Reviewed: August 14, 2004
Since debuting on The Billboard Hot 100 in the mid-'60s, Nancy Sinatra has notched more than 20 entries, including two No. 1s ("These Boots Are Made for Walkin' " and "Somethin' Stupid," a duet with her father, Frank). After a too lengthy break from the chart, Sinatra may indeed return to it with the dreamy "Let Me Kiss You." Co-penned by Morrissey, who also provides backing vocals, the poignant "Kiss" is tailor-made for Sinatra. And with Morrissey's stamp, the song—which first appeared on his latest album, "You Are the Quarry"—also has its fair share of melancholia. Consider this chorus: "Close your eyes/And think of someone/You physically admire/And let me kiss you." Sinatra shines throughout. In fact, she one-ups Morrissey on his own song. Prepare yourself for her new album, due next month.—MP
August 11, 2004 01:02 am | Blog: Toilet Paper Fashion Show 2004
It's our annual Toilet Paper Fashion Show at work today. Lots of fun... I'm looking forward to the TP 500 race tomorrow. I'm usually the photographer for these events that goes on our intranet website, but I think my boss volunteered me to be a runner this year - which was a total surprise to me.
I always joke that this is all good clean fun.
I think last year my team won basically all the awards, especially soap carving, which I was a natural at. It's fun to carve soap, no, seriously, try it sometime.
Anyroad, my team's Horse won this year fashion show, we beat out 'engine man', 'the bride' and some guy with toilet paper on a stick.
And check out Holly's hands! Yikes:
Also, I am happy to announce that I have been nominated and won the 'Employee of the Quarter' award. The prize ? A quarter.
No, just kidding, it's a $250 gift card.
I got a similiar Employee award two years ago, too. I think this is just a cheap ploy because I never take any sick time and I hardly ever use my vacation time.
Still, it's nice to be noticed for such things.
August 08, 2004 10:11 pm | Mozza Pulls Out Of Benicassim
MORRISSEY has cancelled his appearance at Spain's BENICASSSIM festival at the eleventh hour.
He was due to open the bill on the main stage at 9.20 tonight (August 7) and the show would have been his first performance on Spanish soil.
However, he called the festival shortly before his performance to inform them that he wouldn't be appearing due to "technical difficulties with his private aeroplane".
Organisers are in the process of revising the line-up to fill the gap.

August 04, 2004 06:26 pm | M.E.N. Arena DVD Petition
Morrissey's concert at the M.E.N. Arena on 22 May 2004 was filmed for a reported DVD release. This was indicated on signage at the venue. Footage from this concert was used for the "First Of The Gang To Die" video.
Fans have been waiting patiently for this DVD release, especially after guitarist Boz Boorer indicated that the band and producer Jerry Finn had been working on the DVD.
Rumours are now floating around that Sanctuary has not yet decided if this is ever going to be released.
The Move Festival in Manchester (11 July 2004) had Morrissey in really good form, with some fans believing this was an even better concert than M.E.N! Move was also filmed, with some clips already aired on TV in the UK. Those of us who have seen some footage from this concert agree that this is a show that simply cannot be left to gather dust.
This petition is therefore being launched to persuade Sanctuary to release not only the M.E.N. concert, but the Move Festival appearance as well. Both of these would fit on a DVD release and it would be a sin to not release these to the public, especially the fans all around the world who couldn't manage to be at Morrissey's homecoming concerts.
Please sign the petition if you would like these concerts to have a commercial DVD release - At the end of August 2004, the petition will be handed over to Sanctuary Records.
1. What inspired you to write this book and do you consider this to be a
follow up from 'Bigmouth' or a seperate project?
"I think I just wanted to write, and I was a big Morrissey fan so I chose to write about him. Bigmouth came out ten years ago when Morrissey was falling from critical favour, but when I started writing the new book he was seen as a total has-been, so both books have this feeling of me springing to Morrissey's defence. Bigmouth was a 6,000-word essay whereas the new book is 100 pages long, so it's a bit more substantial. In the ten years since I wrote Bigmouth I've changed a lot as writer. Bigmouth is written in typical music journo/fanboy style, while in the new one my style has matured a bit. I'm my own man now, and I've realised that I'm in disagreement with the music journalist consensus when it comes to Morrissey - and everything else as well."
2. Do you think Morrissey is bigger now, than he was when the
Smiths Split?
"I suspect he's bigger now. The new album is heading towards worldwide sales of a million, which must make it his biggest hit ever. With The Smiths and in his early solo years he was huge in Britain and a cult in America. With You Are The Quarry he's making inroads in markets where he's never been before. I think he could have become a global megastar in 1988, but he fumbled the ball..."
Our phones at work tells us the type of telephone calls we're receiving. When I see "direct-in", that means that someone knows my direct line (who are usually my friends & family).
Well anyway, I saw that I was getting a direct-in call so I answered the phone. The woman on the other end started speaking in French, and I thought it was one of my friends playing a prank on me. So I played along, I started saying random French & Spanish words.
"Tu hablas espanole?"
"Wee"
"Je ne parle pas Francais"
etc.
After a few minutes, I came to the realization that perhaps I did not know this woman. And further, that she was really speaking French!
I tried to apologize to her, but she didn't understand a word I was saying ... It was so embarrassing. We both hung up shortly after this.
July 26, 2004 01:28 am | Nancy Sinatra sings "America Is Not The World" at Italian Fest in Milwaukee and Dedicates it
I was one of the unlucky ones that couldn't go to last weeks show in Chicago, but I went to Italian fest on Sat. the 27th and Nancy Sinatra was one of the key performers.
She had already started when I was walking up to the Briggs and Straton Stage. She was singing "America is not the World" and had a slide show of pictures of Morrissey and herself displayed behind her as she sang the song. The crowd was loud, so I couldn't tell how good of a rendition her song was, and nobody there really seemed to know who Morrissey was, but when it was over I most certainly made a cheering arse of myself.
Please note that I am changing my email address, once again. Please start using
, although I might change it to another username since "sleeperster" sounds weird. It was a suggestion because 'sleeper' was already taken. I thought about it and I would've either gone with Sleeperchamp or Pajamapants.
Last week, I was supposed to meet my friends to see a comedy troop. I was late. Since I was already in downtown, I decided to walk down Nicollet Avenue to an import record store called Let it Be Records. But along the way, there was some sort of festival happening all summer called "Sommerfest". I ended up watching a Jazz band and then a street performer juggling sharp knives over four people underneath him. He dubbed it, "the Human Table... of Death!"
At the store, I bought two CDs, Belle & Sebastian's "Books" EP and a used Camera Obscura "Underachievers Please Try Harder" CD. B&S's "Your Cover's Blown" is the most amazing song ever. I just could not stop listening to it. The song seems like it's a patchwork of musical genres. I wish radio stations would play this song, but it's not going to happen as the song is six minutes. Too short, if you ask me.
Well, I have been buying cheap software via Ebay lately. I'm not sure that these software are entirely legal, but it's definitely cheaper than retail. I've picked up Photoshop 8 CS and Pocket Quicken for a very reasonable price.

July 18, 2004 01:12 am | Morrissey Receives Hate Mails
Morrissey has received a stream of abusive hate mail from Americans after apparently saying he wished George Bush had died.
The former Smiths frontman informed the audience at his Manchester gig that Ronald Reagan had died and said he wished it had been Bush.
The Manchester Evening News, which reported the quote has been receiving complaints ever since, mostly from irate Americans, while so far there has been no official comment from anyone in Morrissey’s camp.

Statement on the Death of New York Dolls Bassist Arthur Harold Kane Jr.
July 15, 2004
I am personally very grateful to Arthur for his essential contribution to the Dolls and their music. He has left us with some great musical memories – especially “Private World” and “It’s Too Late”. He was a very gentle soul and I know he lived for many years with the hope of a Dolls reunion. When this happened – at the Royal Festival Hall in June – I know Arthur was thrilled to be back with David and Sylvain playing the music of the Dolls to such enthusiastic crowds over two nights. I will always remember the look of bashful happiness on Arthur’s face as people in the audience constantly called out his name. He was finally back where he belonged.

July 09, 2004 05:37 pm | Morrissey Interview on BBC
Morrissey Morrissey played live from Maida Vale on Zane and John Peel's show. Moz also gave a great interview to Zane.
You can listen again to the interview below...
Moz on the renewed interest in his music ...
"It's been a surprise. Thank god it's here though...it's big headed but there's been so much crappy music about in recent years, and with the dreadful slob idol thing, hopefully people, please god, want music and songs"

On why he's been away for seven years...
"...it was difficult to find a label that had nice people in it. I found lots of labels with strange people but didn't want to be a part of it. The hunt for the label - that was the thing that kept me busy at night times"
Listen to Part Two of the interview
On living in Los Angeles...
"It's a very attractive place. Honestly, I didn't mean to move there, it was just somewhere I found myself living. I knew I wanted to go somewhere away and I just ended up in Los Angeles...I do surf fantastically well, that's absolutely true!"
Listen to Part Three of the interview
For a band that have only been going for two years, The Ordinary Boys have done good quickly. Help has been at hand however, particularly from renowned producer Stephen Street which can explain the group's likeness to The Smiths and Blur.
Very British in sound, their singer Preston states that their music is "about putting back the honesty and passion in music that's been missing for too long".
With a sold out headline tour already under their belt they have also made appearances at the NME Awards shows and Radio 1's Live in Brighton.
Young and full of angst, the band comprises Preston on guitar and lead vocals, William J Brown on lead guitar and backing vocals, Charlie on drums and James on bass.
Morrissey hopes this compilation will say everything to you about your life, and maybe a little about his. Over the course of this CD Morrissey leads you by the hand from spikey punk to sun-kissed country grooves via bands he knows he's influenced and new acts he's now consciously endorsing as the legacy of his talent and work. It's a fascinating compilation and we're very proud to present it. Now it's all yours.

Due to a Windows XP corrupted file, I was not able to boot up my computer.
I didn't have any start up disc either... so I ended ordering a Sony Recovery DVD from their official store. At first I tried to order it online at servicesales.sel.sony.com, but the website does not list my particular notebook model (PCG-V505DX), so I had to call their phone number, 800-488-7669, and talk to one of their operator.
She tried to sell me the "next day" option for $22 in shipping, but I thought that was a little expensive, so I opted for the only cheap option ($6) which took a full eight days to deliver (discounting Sunday).
Needless to say, I should've taken the overnight option.
Matinée Records posted some MP3 tracks of the Lucksmiths, check it out. I recommend "T-Shirt Weather" and "Untidy Town".
The Would-Be-Goods is also, er, good too.
Here is the letter I got in the inbox:

The Lucksmiths is one of my favorite bands. They sing about happiness, joblessness, successlessness, relationshipsness - you know things I can't really relate to. But I still love them though.
I think the best description that I've heard someone said about their music is that they don't really write songs, but conversations.
Here are some random songs:
"It hasn't been all beer and skittles. There were some madness in the middle. I'll make a sandwich, and I'll make a mess. Am I making sense ? We were good, good friends... for a while."
"She's the opposite of coffee, she's the last thing I need in the morning."
"Are you split in two, when I talk to you. Because I'm split in three when you talk to me."
"Better Saturdays, and it's been that way since I spoke to you this morning. From a pay phone in a pub, here's the rock and rolling, there's the rub. When I spoke to you, you said, "I'll see you soon." But I won't see you for ages. And your voice sounded so small, the loneliness of a long-distance phone call."
I've seen them twice and the first time, there were a few people around. I managed to steal their setlist.
Collected and maintained by Vu in the year 2002.
