Note: Only 1,000 copies were printed, each copy came with a hand-numbered and signed by John Muir, Proprietor of Babylon Books. According to a fax from Morrissey (available on Morrissey-Solo), Morrissey protests to the publication of the book and asks fans to not buy it. Since Morrissey sold the manuscript for £1,000 there was nothing he could legally do about it.

"Morrissey's 53-page typewritten script remains an interesting artefact from his bedroom period. Although the prose is disarmingly plain and prone to spelling errors, Morrissey display his frivolous love for wry chapter titles: 'The Meek Shall Inherit The Oscar'; 'Will Success Spoil Tab Hunter?'; 'Slush Be My Destiny'; 'All That Universal Allows'; 'Everything You Wanted to Know About Agnes Moorehead, But Were Afraid To Ask.'.... Exit Smiling was probably the most appealing of Morrissey's minor forways into the bargain basement book world."
