News: Belle & Sebastian News Message - North American Tour Onsales, plus UK chart and TV stuff
    January 21, 2006 11:49 am
     From www.belleandsebastian.com

FUNNY LITTLE FROG (CD) (16 Jan 2006)
Most of the remaining shows on the North American Tour go onsale tomorrow. Check www.belleandsebastian.com/tour.php for details of specific shows. Due to the alarming speed that the NYC and DC shows sold out, I'd recommend getting in early. It seems we still have it. Either that or the scalpers think we do.

Also, a reminder that B&S make only their second appearance on "Top Of The Pops" this Sunday at 7pm on BBC 2 (UK only). It seems these things only come around every 5 years. It's also worth watching to see The Go! Team, and see if you can spot Will Young's black eye, despite his label's better efforts to hide it. (You can probably tell it's already been recorded can't you? We nipped down after Sunday's Glasgow show, shot it, and were back in time for the Monday show).

The appearance is if course to celebrate the impending chart smash that is "Funny Little Frog". You can still help us beat Son of Dork, if you haven't yet, by buying the single from your friendly local retailer or iTunes, or by downloading the live version from www.7digital.com or texting BELLE FLF to 81330. Before Sunday. Remember, if using an adult's phone or credit card, put it back EXACTLY where you found it, or you'll get caught.

Finally, news regarding the transmission of "The Music Show". As previously reported, it is to be broadcast on BBC 2 Scotland at 10pm on January 31st. Non-Scottish Britons of a digital bent will be delighted to learn that BBC 2 Scotland can be viewed on Sky Channel 960 and NTL Channel 927. So there you go...

FUNNY LITTLE FROG (CD) (16 Jan 2006)
Some of the band will be doing a session on XFM's "Music:Response" at 8.15pm tonight (Thursday 19th). Listen online or find the frequencies at www.xfm.co.uk

The same people will also be doing a session on 6 Music's "The Hub" sometime just after 11.30am tomorrow (Friday 20th). Listen online at www.bbc.co.uk/6music www.bbc.co.uk/6music

This week the band will also be performing "Funny Little Frog" on "Top Of The Pops". It's on on BBC 2 on a Sunday evening in the UK (7pm or 7.30 probably), but I know it gets shown quite widely internationally too. I'm sure you can find it yourselves.

Finally, a wee reminder about the live download of "Funny Little Frog" that is available. Simply text BELLE FLF to 81330, or visit www.7digital.com . It'll probably not be available much beyond this week, so if you're planning on getting it, don't dally.

The same could be said of some of the US shows. Both the DC shows have sold out, as has the 2nd NYC show. The shows that are likely to follow quickly are Toronto, Philly and Chicago, as well as the other NYC show. They'll probably sell out in the next few days.

News: B&S On Cover of Under the Radar

    UNDER THE RADAR (Jan 2006)
    Cover Story:

Belle & Sebastian: If You’re Feeling Comfortable
Ten years since their formation, almost everyone’s favorite Scottish band are still going strong. This Winter sees the release of The Life Pursuit, Belle & Sebastian’s most pop-conscious effort yet and their return to Matador Records. Writer Matt Fink spoke to various members of the band, including Stuart Murdoch and Stevie Jackson, and also spoke to Life Pursuit producer Tony Hoffer and the band’s biographer Paul Whitelaw. We sent photographer Derrick Santini to Glasgow to capture the band in their natural habitat. (Words by Matt Fink / Photos by Derrick Santini)

    Main Features:
Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan: The former Belle & Sebastian singer and the former Screaming Trees frontman (and current Queens of the Stone Age member) have teamed up for Ballad of the Broken Seas, a classic album in the vein of the Nancy Sinatra/Lee Hazlewood records. Writer Frank Valish spoke to both of them about the album. (Words by Frank Valish / Photo by Autumn de Wilde)

FUNNY LITTLE FROG (CD) (16 Jan 2006)
The new B&S single, "Funny Little Frog", is released on Monday January 16th.

It's available on CD, DVD and 7", as well as download from most reputable download stores. You can buy all three formats for £5 from www.recordstore.co.uk.

There is also a live version, recorded at the G2 in Glasgow, which is available for 99p from www.7digital.com . Alternatively you can text BELLE FLF to 81330.

A reminder that the instores in Edinburgh and Glasgow are now on Tuesday 17th at 12pm and 5pm respectively.

A couple of radio and TV things. Everyone except Beans went into the BBC on Thursday night and did a couple of session tracks for Vic Galloway. You can doubtlessly listen again at www.bbc.co.uk.

The Music Show's recent recording of the band, which also makes up the Bonus DVD on initial albums, is set to be broadcast on BBC 2 Scotland at 10pm on January 31st. I think it's possible for digital viewers outside Scotland to get it somehow. Either that or you buy the DVD.

There will also be sessions this week for XFM and 6 Music. I'll let you know when, when I remember.

Thanks to everyone who voted in the NME chart. The single went in at Number 4, so job done. I won't ask you to vote again...
